I am hideous, quick-witted, and easy-going.

My Self-Summary

I used to go by another name (Vamore), but I deleted it a while back for reasons that currently elude me. I wish I'd a copy of the old profile; oh well, I'll try it from memory:

I'm a hideous twit! Seriously, I am, although sometimes it takes people a while to realize this. I'm not sure why, as they seem to find it rather obvious once they come to terms with it.

Oh, and apparently this site finds me "Strong!", saying "Yay, Kryllith!
You make OkCupid better." So... go me.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently I'm working for the University of Oklahoma. Eventually I'd like to move back to California, or possibly Hawaii, where I spent most of my formative years.

Recently I've started teaching myself how to play the acoustic guitar. I figured after all the Rock Band/Guitar Hero I've been doing, that I probably ought to try the real thing. It's been slow going, but thankfully I already know how to read music from playing clarinet back in my formative years.

Most recently, I married Eris_Discordia after we met on OkCupid almost three years ago, just in case anyone is wondering whether anybody actually ever meets anyone here.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at being annoying, although that is merely one of my many talents. I'm also good at fixing computers, playing soccer, video games, and tennis; bowling, swimming, giving massages (I'm decent at receiving them as well), and snappy comebacks. I'm a decent cook, though I don't get to make things from scratch as often as I'd like. I've been told numerous times that I've a good singing voice, but I think years of living in the tumultuous weather changes of both Oklahoma and Louisiana have worn it down a bit. Either that or I'm just out of practice. I'm a descent writer, thanks to my creativity and years of composition and rhetoric classes, coupled with a minor in psychology. Similarily, I'm rather good at arguing, which can be either a boon or a curse depending on who is around me. I make a decent sounding-board for both ideas and problems, as well as a mediator.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm hideous! They may deny it, but subconciously they notice it. It usually takes them a little while longer to realize I'm a twit. Luckily for anyone bored enough to read my profile, you've numerous opportunities to realize the truth and gain an advantage over people whom fail to do the same. If you ever find any possible use for this advantage, please let me know as I'd like to claim finder's fees.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite books are from the sci-fi/fantasy genre, although I'll read just about anything. Authors adorning my shelves include Adams, Anthony, Brooks, Chalker, Donaldson, Eddings, Pratchett, Tolkein, and Weis and Hickman, among others. I'm also a fan of comics (strips, though I used to read a fair bit of comicbooks when I was younger); my favorites include Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes, Larson's Farside, Breathed's Outland, Adam's Dilbert, and McGruder's Boondocks.

Obviously I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy movies (Star Wars saga, The Lord of the Rings, Serenity, and others) as evidenced by my choice of reading materials. I'm also a big fan of most things from the 80s, especially movies, music, and television shows (although Firefly and Lost both rock). My all time favorite movie would be John Hughes's Some Kind of Wonderful.

Favorite bands/singers would include a-ha, Asia, ABBA, Arcadia, Boston, Cause and Effect, Chicago, The Cure, Def Leppard, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Erasure, Enya, Genesis, Oingo Boingo, Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark, Rush, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, U2, When in Rome, Yes, and numerous others that would take far too long to mention.

My favorite food is sushi, though I like just about everything. I love spicy food, so I guess it's no surprise that some of my other favorites include Korean, Indian, Mexican, and Thai.

The six things I could never do without

Assuming already including the necessities of air and generic sustenance, I'd say

books
pets
friends
sushi
computer/internet
the beach (although I've been without this for a while, so I might be lying)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

California, and the friends I've left behind.

On a typical Friday night I am

I used to spend my Friday nights with friends in Norman, but they moved out of state last summer. Assuming I don't have any formal plans with friends and I'm going it alone, I'm liable to watch some television or a movie, play a video game, browse the net, or read.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not gay. Seriously, I'm not. I'm not sure where the misconception has come from that I am, but it's incorrect. Actually, people generally realize the truth on their own, but for some strange reason people that don't know me very well tend to believe that I'm gay. It may be because I've had (and still have) numerous gay/bi/lesbian friends, or it could be because I'm very much into the 80s (apparently that's a supposed indicator, who knew?) Of course, tt could be because I've no qualms about cross-dressing.

Then again, maybe the fact that I've no qualms about cross-dressing should be the most private thing I'm willing to admit. But since I've no qualms, then I guess it's not really private. After all, I've gone out in public on Halloween on at least four occasions while wearing women's clothing (I actually won a contest while dressed as Alice from Alice in Wonderland) and I've written an essay and given a speech on it. Mind you, it's not something I do on a regular basis. I'm not a transvestite, although I am a huge Eddie Izzard fan.

You should message me if

You don't mind me being hideous, or being a twit, or can live with the fact that I might be wearing a dress if you happen to be around me on Halloween or sometime when I'm just feeling really silly. Or if you're a Browncoat or into roleplaying games or I seem interesting or you're really bored.
