My self-summary
Serious revisions on 04/07/2012. First time since I started this profile over two years ago. I guess that's the benefit/ hinderance of no longer needing companionship to feel like my life is complete. I am definitely open to the prospect of finding a relationship, though.

I'm a huge music fan. I like pretty much anything that can be categorized as rock, but there’s a special place in my heart for metal. I love going to shows with giant mosh-pits, though I'm at least 50 pounds too light to avoid being thrown about like a rag doll in one. I can also get behind pretty much anything w/ a great beat b/c I love to go dancing! Oxymoronic for a metalhead, but what can I say? I also like using big words like oxymoronic. I have a large vocabulary and am constantly stretching it, occasionally even severely misusing a word in the hopes that I used it properly and sound like a baddass. Besides dancing, my enjoyment of shopping might make my sexual orientation somewhat questionable, but I assure you, there’s only room in my heart (read: pants) for the ladies. I just like dressing up and looking/feeling good because of the effort I put into my appearance.

And though I have impecable hygine and fashion sense, I’m also a huge nerd. Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are two of my all-time favorite TV series. Anything by Joss Whedon is fantasic. I love playing board games with my friends (not Candyland and Monopoly, more like Settlers of Catan, Dominion and Bananagrams). I used to play Magic: The Gathering professionally and make money doing it. And I also sacrificed a year of my life to World of Warcraft (though no video game holds any particular allure for me these days).

What you can really infer from my activities is that one of my biggest hobbies is thinking. I like to be intellectually challenged. I like arguing (not fighting, there’s a difference). Especially in this election year, I've taken to responding to political posts on Facebook in the most respectful and earnest manor possible. Partially because I enjoy debating and partially because I can't stand by while people disseminate uninformed claims that could influence others into making similarly uninformed voting decisions. I'm always interested in speaking with well-informed Republicans because so many conservative voters are only interested in moral issues, not political ones. And though I have no trouble freely speaking my mind, I'm also interested in different viewpoints and have no problem apologizing or admitting I'm wrong when it becomes apparent.

One of my biggest character flaws is that I can seem shy or quiet when meeting people because I'm generally pretty terrible at small talk. That grows out of my brain's desire to skip ahead to deeper questions or topics. It makes me a great conversationalist, but awful at meeting people at the bar.

My last relationship ended pretty messily so I'm not looking to jump straight into another serious one, but I'm open to the possibility and definitely interested in meeting people. Maybe just as friends, maybe more.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at RIW Hobbies in Livonia, MI. It's an absolutely amazing game store, so basically it's my job to talk to customers about board games and Magic cards all day long. Though some of my long-term plans don't mesh particularly well with this, it's basically my dream job.
I’m really good at
Remembering trivia like song lyrics and actors' movie careers
Being extremely loyal to my friends (for whom I'd do anything)
Dancing! (for a white male, at least)
The first things people usually notice about me
My warm demeanor. Though I am poor with the small talk, I still manage to make pretty good first impressions.

My deep, manly voice. People are routinely surprised by it since such a rumbling bass should not come from a man who's 6'1" and 180lbs. At least once a week someone tells me I should sing/work in radio.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love all ethnic foods more than any American fare. SUSHI has to be my #1 love, but I also dig Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Thai and I'm always excited to try new things.

I read more non-fiction than fiction b/c I'm fascinated by the way the world works, but I still love Palahniuk and Harry Potter.
Fight Club (Both the book and movie are perfect)
Ender's Game
The Tao of Pooh
Tao Teh Ching
A Brief History of Time
The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Angels & Demons (infi better than The DaVinci Code)
The Game
Harry Potter
The Tipping Point
Outliers (Malcolm Gladwell is a genius)
The Snowball: The Authorized Biography of Warren Buffett

I like to stay informed about pop culture and as such I choked down the first three Twilight books (I may or may not read the 4th in the interest of completeness. I have heard that it's better than the others in some ways). And The Hunger Games are on my to-do list (I could see in the movie what the book is capable of, but I thought it was a pretty poor translation).

I love the movies. As in, the experience of going to the cinema. It was something my family did together a lot and I have a lot of fond memories related to it. So, of course, I enjoy movies themselves quite a lot as well. If there's a flaw in my movie tastes, it's that I'm not a huge fan of 'subtle' cinema. I like my movies to give me a very visceral reaction. Whether it's love, sadness, excitement, or fear, I want my movies to make me feel something.

Spider-Man I & II (NOT III)
X-Men I, II and III

I appreciate most things that fall under the giant heading of "rock" and I'm ok w/ a fair bit of hip-hop and anything that makes me feel the urge to dance, but there's no appeal to hardcore rap or country.
The six things I could never do without
Peanut Butter
Intellectual Stimulation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I just spend a lot of time thinking. My brain rarely slows down. I'm never bored. I can sit quietly for long periods of time without difficulty. Once in a while I have trouble falling asleep just because my brain is working in overdrive.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dancing, drinking, playing Friday Night Magic, working at Friday Night Magic, relaxing at home, playing video games online with friends. The same things we do every night, Pinkie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There's very little in my life that I'm afraid to share. If you've got the balls to ask the question, I've got the balls to answer it.
