My self-summary
I've lived in Sydney just about all of my life and I didn't
bother going to the Olympics when it was here (you get a much
better view on the TV). I had been wandering aimlessly through life
and then I wound up at university after something of a hiatus from
the education system. Constantly harassed with comments of, "Could
do better if he just applied himself," I felt as though I had
eventually found some sort of place where I fitted in until the
degree was over and they dragged me kicking and screaming into the
workforce.
UPDATE: In the time since I last wrote in this horrible mess of
a profile, I have completed two bachelor degrees in Communication
and in Primary Education. The second one was actually useful.
Music is a large part of my life and I have an acute fixation
with British rock bands namely, Muse, Radiohead, Supergrass and of
course the oldies like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I don't
typecast my musical tastes and will give most other things a listen
but generally not to the point of purchasing them.
I like Ice Cream.
What I'm doing with my life
At the present moment I am a primary school teacher (Elementary
school for my North American cousins), and I must say that I'm
enjoying it immensely. It is nice to be out from under the pump of
working in retail (8 years) and I empathise with all of those who
work in it. Next time you're in a shop, say please and thank you.
Why don't you even try, "Have a great day/afternoon/evening." It's
nice to show appreciation.
Apart from that, I'm trying to get back into playing some team
sports because I gave them up in my final years of University. It's
not until you stop doing those things that you realise that being a
twenty-something is actually a secret code for fading metabolism.
Also saving, but aren't we all?
Waiting for that phone call from someone to ask me to be in a
band.
I'm really good at
Playing guitar I suppose. I guess I've got a few years to top
that. Writing, when I can be motivated.
Cricket (silly colonial sport)
I might be good at something else but I can't remember as
such.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
Hmm I guess my eyes, either remarking how blue my eyes are or the
fact that I have girly black lashes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(a) The Rum Diary - Hunter S Thompson (before he embarked on the
whole drug fuelled writing saga). Gulliver's Travels - Jonathan
Swift (It still blows my mind how much social and political
commentary there is in that book). Anything by Douglas Adams.
(b) Charlie Chaplin is not funny so Buster Keaton films all the
way. Marx Brothers films are also still enjoyable even just for the
musical numbers. My favourite non inglese movies are Cinema
Paradiso and Life is Beautiful. Recently I have added Grave of the
Fireflies to my favourite movies. It is an animated Japanese film
about two siblings struggling to survive after the end of the
Second World War. I'm such a cheery fellow. Don't worry, I do like
other movies as well, I'm just a sucker for ones that can make you
blubber. I'll chuck Monsters Inc in there as well just to show that
I do like the odd laugh now and then (as opposed to the even
laugh). I'm also a Bruce Campbell fan.
(c) Muse, Radiohead, Pulp, Supergrass, Gomez. It seems to be a
fairly British line up so I shall add some Australian groups as
well. Rocket Science, The Cat Empire, You Am I (their album Hourly
Daily in particular), The City Lights.
(d) Italian, Thai or whatever is in the fridge.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, Family, Music, Comedy, Good times in general and a good
pair of shorts .... perfect for those long Winter nights.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
Possibly going out for a drink or playing guitar in a band that
doesn't exist. At the moment though that is all a big lie. I'm
probably asleep before your grandparents even start thinking about
yawning
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
I was attacked by moths when I was a small child. The equivalent of
Hitchcock for juveniles.
You should message me if
You can help me find what I'm looking for.
Or you like music, or something, or games. Or you like filling
out conversation request forms entitled "Hey, let's be
friends."
Or if you believe that The Littlest Hobo TV series was superior
to Lassie and Benji.
