My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m here to meet someone great.

I'm warm, funny, smart, curious, creative, optimistic, irreverent, confident, self-aware - and self promoting apparently.

I’m looking for you; smart, kind, funny, positive, cute, affectionate and feminine.

I want a best friend to watch the world with. I love taking things apart - psychological, sociological, political and aesthetic. I want the small things we do to be fun because we're so hilarious together. I wanna watch people in the grocery store and make up stories about them. Life is short, and as much fun as we make it.

Professionally, I'm a recording singer, composer and producer. I work on music for ads, films, records and TV. I’ve sung on hit records and movies, appeared on SNL and Letterman and you've heard me sing on tons of commercials you’d know. My job is really fun! I've been freelance since I graduated from Music School in 1987, so I'm not tied down to a 9 to 5 schedule.

I'm also working on a screenplay I'm excited about, and I'm the president of an organization of recording singers.

I grew up in a small suburb of Chicago (think John Hughes’ films), in a real community where everyone knew each other. I’m friendly and I still say “Thank you.” My word and my handshake mean something. I’m loyal and never a cheater. I’m proud of my Midwestern values.

I’ve also lived over half my life in New York City. I’m well traveled, and I know a little bit about a lot of things. I can fit comfortably into any circumstance. My ideal match will be sophisticated and educated, but she’ll have the broad perspective to put it all into context. She revels in high brow and low brow alike, but eschews the uni-brow.

I’ve learned that I need certain qualities of self-awareness in my partner, and of course I will offer the same. Together, we'll make deliberate and thoughtful choices to live a happy life. We won't replay thematic drama. When we need to talk about something, we'll do it productively and with love and respect. We'll both know that “winning” is never found at the other person's expense.

I’ve learned a lot about what I'm looking for (and myself), because I’m twice divorced. Both marriages lasted about 8 years, and I have a beautiful child from each. My first marriage was at 22, so please forgive a youthful mistake? I married again at 34, and although there was a lot of good in it, in the end she was not the right choice for a partner.

I’m ready for the right girl.

My passions include music, conversation, cooking, pop culture, fluff physics & philosophy, psychology, technology, figuring out how things work, possibly fixing those things, late nights, sleeping in, FoodTV, Chicago Bears Football, and whatever cool stuff happens to cross my path.

After 24 years in Manhattan, I just moved to Roosevelt Island. It's GREAT here. Please live on Roosevelt Island, in Manhattan or near the subway? I don’t own a car, but I do drive and I have a license.

Lastly, I love my kids, and I'm not looking to have any more. If your profile says you want kids, I'm gonna respect that, and I'm not gonna write to you even though you seem really cool. :) If that's you, but you're not really sure if you want kids - write me?

Good luck in your search :)

P.S. I know that OKCupid alerts users when they receive a 4 or 5 star rating, so I only ever use the first three stars. Here's how: 3 is my highest rating, and means I really like your profile. 2 doesn't mean I like your profile less, for me it means I need to read more cuz I still have questions. 1 is bad hahaha - and none just means I didn't give a rating. Maybe I was browsing and didn't really get it yet.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think I wrote too much in my profile?
