My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I am smart, dryly funny and hardworking. I'm reasonably confident that I am way younger than my chron age or my pics, both mentally and physically; honestly, I have too much left to do in life to be otherwise! I am not a simple human being, but I live a fairly simple life. I am passionate about my career and my 2 pretty much grown daughters, who actually like and are delighted to spend time with me. I have tremendous respect for women, and their independence, and would love to find a strong, funny, adventuresome woman with whom I can share some of our respective passions in life.

I value my regular time at the health club, on a lakefront rollerblade or, believe it or not, shoveling snow; I don't like checking the 'fit' or 'athletic' box unless I am fit by my own metrics, but I finally did. There is little that bores me, but every once in a while there is something that fascinates me. Fun is a quiet or raucous evening with friends; fun is an intellectually stimulating conversation or a sophomoric movie; or a sophomoric conversation and a thought provoking movie. Fun is a list of outdoor activities that is endless. Fun is sitting on a beach with a book in the midday sun or with a drink in front of a bonfire at sunset. Fun is anywhere with one or both of my daughters (most recently, this meant lying on the floor of the Mojave at 4 a.m. captivated by a meteor shower and a sky of stars the likes of which I've never seen before).

Mostly, I aspire to be a basic fun-loving adult in the limited play time that’s available. I have great, longstanding friends but would welcome more companionship. I take full advantage of my urban neighborhood - BYO's, local rep theater, indie movie houses, summer concerts in Millennium Park, Pandora and the health club (one of the greatest combos the modern world has to offer), anything on or in the water, a BBQ with friends and margaritas on the deck. Anytime I can, I get away to my “shrink’s office,” otherwise known as my second home in the Indiana Dunes.

I would like to have a well-rounded grownup relationship with someone who is smart and funny and who thinks I’m smart and funny. Beyond that, I have no real preconceived notions about what a partner or companion MUST be like. Looking for a woman who is strong and independent does not mean that I am not caring, attentive and supportive, but I also appreciate my own independence and, if you find the right balance, the rest, the traveling, the laughs, the chemistry has at least a shot at working out.

Working on it - my interests and my potential.

Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

Lots of nonfiction that helps me understand this crazy world better. Fish or Steak, cooked on the deck as long as it's at least 33 degrees. Any music Pandora throws at me; must include Dylan, Petty, Clapton, Etheridge, Raitt.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My daughters and, in no particluar order - my work, my beach house, 1792 bourbon. I guess that's 5.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Building my business; how to get my married friends to spend time with me; how to watch less TV.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Ideally, at a good, fun Chicago BYOB with 2-4 good friends and 3-5 good bottles of something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Nothing comes to mind. Either I'm very private or I have little to hide.

You are smart, funny, outdoorsy and: Anything I've written here resonates with you and, preferably, you live pretty close to the North Side of Chicago. The age range above is sort of random; so long as you are youthful and can stimulate my brain or make me laugh, I am very attracted to women my own age, so I really don't mean to discourage anyone.
