I value my regular time at the health club, on a lakefront rollerblade or, believe it or not, shoveling snow; I don't like checking the 'fit' or 'athletic' box unless I am fit by my own metrics, but I finally did. There is little that bores me, but every once in a while there is something that fascinates me. Fun is a quiet or raucous evening with friends; fun is an intellectually stimulating conversation or a sophomoric movie; or a sophomoric conversation and a thought provoking movie. Fun is a list of outdoor activities that is endless. Fun is sitting on a beach with a book in the midday sun or with a drink in front of a bonfire at sunset. Fun is anywhere with one or both of my daughters (most recently, this meant lying on the floor of the Mojave at 4 a.m. captivated by a meteor shower and a sky of stars the likes of which I've never seen before).
Mostly, I aspire to be a basic fun-loving adult in the limited play time that’s available. I have great, longstanding friends but would welcome more companionship. I take full advantage of my urban neighborhood - BYO's, local rep theater, indie movie houses, summer concerts in Millennium Park, Pandora and the health club (one of the greatest combos the modern world has to offer), anything on or in the water, a BBQ with friends and margaritas on the deck. Anytime I can, I get away to my “shrink’s office,” otherwise known as my second home in the Indiana Dunes.
I would like to have a well-rounded grownup relationship with someone who is smart and funny and who thinks I’m smart and funny. Beyond that, I have no real preconceived notions about what a partner or companion MUST be like. Looking for a woman who is strong and independent does not mean that I am not caring, attentive and supportive, but I also appreciate my own independence and, if you find the right balance, the rest, the traveling, the laughs, the chemistry has at least a shot at working out.
