My self-summary
This used to have three descriptive terms allowed... these were mine: (1) passion incarnate, (2) a swashbuckling hero, and (3) an all-around OK guy.

UPDATE: I am slowly becoming a mad scientist, Doc Brown -style.

YOU
-------------
I like distinctiveness, personality, and above all things passion. Intelligence and sense of humor are very important, as well. Not being a soul-eating banshee succubus is a plus :) Be silly, because I am basically joking *all* the time, and am basically as irreverent as it gets.

ME
-------------
I'm not your run-of-the-mill beer-swilling Jersey Shore bro, but more of a charmingly geeky crazy mofo. Some supporting facts:
1) I was born and raised Alaska
2) I lived in Europe for a year (France, Austria, and England), during the midst of which I was kidnapped in Morocco because I refused to be a drug mule.
3) [redacted]
4) I have seven or so piercings (all but one in the ears) and five or so tattoos (only one visible)
5) I have a garage-ful of robotic doomsday devices ready to be unleashed... but I just can't seem to get the eyes to glow the right shade of red. Ah, well... SOON.
5b) No really, I am *actually* a roboticist... best job ever!
6) Not to brag, but one time I ate the sun whole and that's where your modern concept of "night" comes from.

For hobbies, I watch a lot of movies at home or in the theater, I enjoy adventure-y outdoor stuff like hiking and rafting (but don't get to do much of it livin in the city, sadly), I play guitar and attempt to vocalize, I like drinks and board game nights with a few friends, pub quiz, karaoke, and pretty much anything else. I'm not much for clubbing, as I can't dance to save my life. For sport, I go to the gym often, enjoy jogging by the river at dusk, play racquetball, and go rockclimbing now and then.

I prefer to get between points A and B by bike or subway.

I love to travel and see crazy places (Iceland is a favorite) and see cultures that seem crazy to me (Morocco was cool, except for the drug mule thing). The more exotic the geology/nature, the better. Sadly, I lack a dedicated and sexy traveling companion...
What I’m doing with my life
making the world a better place through the magic of robotics
I’m really good at
making people laugh with a rapier quip or capering about like a fool
The first things people usually notice about me
the twinkle in my eye
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music (although I like pretty much anything):

White Stripes, Muse, Sigur Ros, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Our Lady Peace, DJ S3RL, Daft Punk, Johnny Cash, Regina Spektor, Pink Floyd, Rufus Wainwright, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Tori Amos, Francis Cabrel, Ani DiFranco, Louis Armstrong; various nostalgic 90s sentimental pop rock (Jimmy Eat World, Live, Fuel); various old-timey hillbilly crap

TV Shows (don't watch TV, but I download what I can't live without [update: screw you Hulu, I am undone!]):

Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Mr. Show, Futurama, Firefly, Arrested Development, Star Trek TNG, The Office, Parks and Rec

Movies (I watch a lot of movies, thanks to Netflix):

Cannibal! the Musical, Zoolander, Young Poisoner's Handbook, Videodrome, Neverending Story, TMNT (original live action), Wayne's World, Mallrats, The Big Lebowski, Shallow Grave; comic book adaptations (e.g., Hulk, V for Vendetta); various post-apocalyptic survival/rebuild stories

Books:

John Gardner's Grendel, the Phantom Tollbooth, Narcissus and Goldmund, David Brin's Uplift Trilogy, Le Petit Prince, Harry Potter, Ender's Game, Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, I Robot

Food:

Meat. Things that accompany meat. (Sorry, I'm a man)
The six things I could never do without
(3) french hens
(2) turtle doves
(1) ring to rule them all
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my research (artificial intelligence in robotics) and its philosophical/sociological implications
On a typical Friday night I am
awesome
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was a raver in a past life, until I discovered it was all about drug abuse and escapism and image instead of being a haven of acceptance and celebration in an underground unfettered by societal norms where you get to wear ridiculous costumes under cool lighting
You should message me if
you are not a 54-year old man who wants my youthful skin for his own (unless you have enough money to make a decent offer)
