My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm from the midwest, a boy of the burbs. Stumbled around do-gooding with AmeriCorps here and there for a few years: Bay Area, Boston, New Orleans. I'm now almost 2 years into a New York sojourn after moving here for a grad school journalism degree. (I've since graduated and am now stumbling through some other path.)

I'm kind of an anxious person, but can definitely be seen laid-back. ( I probably over-think things, which is helpful (and kinda charming) in my position: writing. I can cook alright, but I don't know how to bake. I love music, but don't dance. Still a little nerdy. Maybe weird. I like sports. In a Grantland way. I'm nice. And sadly, yes, sincere. Travels well.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Looking to figure things out and perhaps have a good time along the way.

Striving to be a better writer, reader, thinker, and person; maybe making my way up the journo-ladder.

I think a lot about "the arts" and culture. I try to write about it too— at least when I'm not doing the day job (i look over an outdoor "reading room" of books, magazines, and newspapers in a well-known midtown park) which allows me to do my "real job": again, writing, which currently is on film and art shows, but I have a few long form ideas in me.

[Forgetting to log out of OKCupid on public computers. I should be glad people don't do worse to my profile than this.] saving this for posterity.

I fear sometimes that I am boring and talk too much.

willing to admit more, but there's a lot there to admit, I suppose.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Here's the important part:

You're some fermenting combination of laid-back, serious, passionate, playful, weird, thoughtful, and independent.

You'd like to do something:

You want to go to a play, a dance show, museums, the natural history museum, many movies, parks, bars, Montreal—at some point.

Want to trade books and song tips.

You're sorta nice and totally smart but also has claws.

I don't want those protracted, batted game of messages. Doing something is preferred to frittering about and then dropping off. Chat away with me by all means and feel comfortable with me before meeting, but let's prioritize seeing how we do in person. IRL.

You want to grab a coffee and see how it goes.

Best luck, OKCernauts
