I am sesquipedalian, artistic, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

My studio is a tiny corner of my desk that houses paint brushes, pens, paints, pastels, pencils, clay, scraps of this and that, pipe cleaners, old toys, a mug of tea, above which is a wall of cutouts, clippings, photos, faces, friends, postcards, sketches, scratches, musings, mumblings, art by the 5 yr old I used to babysit... below my desk are my old converse sneakers, a couple of hats from a dollar bin at an antique shop in Pennsylvania (there are more elsewhere; I have a sizeable collection), art supplies that didn't fit on top of my desk, among other things.

When not occupying that 2 x 2 bit of space, I'm out on Midnight Adventures, involved in random debauchery, enjoying a walk, using too many big words and unnecessary ellipses...

The abnormal, the fantastic, the imagined are all part of my every day.

"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." ~Albert Einstein

What I’m doing with my life

As of September, I'm back in school. I still haven't quite wrapped my head around it. I used to work a non-profit day job (which one might read as 9-5, but as it was non-profit, often translated into loads of extra hours). When not doing school related things, I use my free time for writing, doing some work as a freelance illustrator, more writing, drawing/painting/general artness, saving the world one little bit at a time, doodling, exercising my inner hippie, listening to friends sing Karaoke at various bars/coffee shops, well... that vaguely answers the question. To sum up, I suppose I'm likely to end up a starving writer/illustrator or full-time pirate and not at all an astrophysicist.

I’m really good at

Balancing spoons on my nose... and making cookies... likewise drawing fake tattoos on people.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. It's red. (By red, I mean real red, not dyed red... though at times its pink... in addition to hats, I have a pink wig which makes an appearance on Halloween and other random days when absolutely necessary.)

And then perhaps multicolored hands (among other things)... little flecks of paint or clay or pastel or what-have-you stuck under fingernails or in creases or like that one time, the giant blue streak across my eyebrow.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) many... so many good books... The Princess Bride, Serpent Garden, L'Heptameron, Les Miserables, Secret Life of Bees, The Moonstone, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, The Red Tent, The Cheese Monkeys, Peter and Wendy, Treasure Island, short stories/tales by Angela Carter, The Pyrates, The Neverending Story, most kids' books... and so many many more

(b) Some Like it Hot with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Princess Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain, Benny & Joon, Le Ciel les Oiseaux et ta Mere, L'Auberge Espagnole, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Finding Neverland

(c) The Beatles, Rufus Wainwright, smokey French cafe music, Death Cab for Cutie, TMBG, Tegan & Sara, Queen, Moxy Fruvous, Fiona Apple, Counting Crows, Huey Lewis & the News, Postal Service, Tori Amos, Jonatha Brooke, The Shins, Guster, Travis, Damien Rice, Joni, good rock, music I can dance to...

The six things I could never do without

Other than friends, family, and an excellent verbal lexicon - a marble composition book and a pen, tea, an artbox, a pile of books, and a bag of M&Ms (divested of all blue interlopers).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Nonsense...

"A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest man." ~Willy Wonka

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've been working on a long term painting project in my room without ventilation, which may or may not have been the best idea. It's been an interesting experience, though...

and my car is protected by ninjas...
