I am known for being ridiculously excited about everything. Originally from Minnesota, now have been in NYC for over 5 years. Purported extrovert that's really a reflective introvert. Always buzzing with energy and starting a new conversation about something out of left field. Very jokey—if there's a one liner for the situation, I'll have it ready. Loves to cook things that are big and elaborate/throw fancy dinner parties for friends. Have been claimed to only want to do things for the story - not sure if that's true, but as the saying goes, great stories happen to those who tell them. Have started a number of genuine friendships that began online (Mostly cinephiles I met via Twitter), so I thought the same thing could happen with dating.

Practicing film critic—freelance for a variety of sites, plus my own podcast. When I'm not doing that, I work at a law firm in real estate, and I'm also getting an MA in Film Studies (and hopefully a PhD after that).

Film: Vertigo, Do the Right Thing, Raging Bull, High and Low, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Rio Bravo, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Days of Heaven, The Searchers, Sunset Blvd. (Given this list I look probably pretentious, but I will give anything its fair shake. Grew up on action movies, secretly enjoy romantic comedies. I don't drag people to 8-hour Hungarian films. I have plenty of other friends who will join me for those. But I often will bring dates/girlfriends to films I know they could potentially enjoy.)

Music: Mostly Jazz (Davis, Coltraine, Brubeck, Parker) and anything else my audiophile friends recommend me. Also a huge podcast junkie: a lot of NPR, various film podcasts, and PBS Newshour.

Television: Louie, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Party Down, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Homeland, Archer, The Wire, The Thick of It, Girls, Justified

Food: Everything. I cook a lot. American-style steaks and ribs, Spanish tapas, Ukrainian Stews, Southern Italian sauces, Greek gyros, Hawaiian-flavored Chicken...I'm constantly trying to take some well known recipe and give it my own spin (I created a European style Sweet and Sour Chicken with oregano, paprika, and honey). Also love going out to any restaurant, especially for things I can't cook (Asian, Indian, West Africa, Middle East, a really juicy burger).

I am working with a number of cinephiles on planning a blogathon of all 14 Air Bud and Air Buddies movies. There are also 3 films about sports with chimps from one of the creators of Air Bud. That is 17 films about animals playing sports. WHY IS THIS?
