My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am known for being ridiculously excited about things. Originally from Minnesota, I spent the last seven years in New York and recently moved to Los Angeles. Purported extrovert that's really a reflective introvert. Always buzzing with energy and starting a new conversation about something out of left field. Very jokey—if there's a one liner for the situation, I'll have it ready. Have started a number of genuine friendships that began online (mostly other film people I met via Twitter), so who is to say the same thing can't happen with dating?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write about movie history and occasionally review new ones for various magazines and websites. Since moving here, I mostly dig through old memos between moguls for my PhD.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Telling stories
Making people laugh, mostly by being ridiculous
Screaming at every passing dog "DOG!"
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My positive energy. Many friends have said that I'm great at radiating happiness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Novels: My most recent was The Luminaries, which was hypnotically engrossing. Currently working my way through Portnoy's Complaint and hopefully some more Roth after. I love a lot of the canon—Shakespeare, Boccaccio, Dostoevsky, Kafka, Austen, DeLillo.

Movies: Due to the nature of my work, I watch a lot, and I spend a lot of time at the theaters in Los Angeles that still show film prints of older movies. I have a lot of favorites, and there are few eras or types of movies I don't at least want to explore further. I promise I won't drag you to a 7 hour Czech film of old dudes walking through the desert (unless you really really want to see that). Sometimes it's a 30s screwball romance, the next night it's a 60s Italian art house flick, and the next an action film starring the greatest actor of our times, Jean Claude Van Damme.

Music: Anything else my audiophile friends recommend me but mostly a huge podcast junkie: a lot of NPR and PBS Newshour, other world report and economic shows.. For music, recently I have enjoyed Belle & Sebastian, Charli XCX, La Roux, Haim, Superchunk, and Spoon. I love Taylor Swift too and I'm proud to say it.

Television: Louie, Broad City, Game of Thrones, The Knick. RIP Bunheads. Right now I am working my way through Gilmore Girls and it is everything.

Food: Everything. I cook a lot. American-style steaks and ribs, Spanish tapas, Ukrainian Stews, Southern Italian sauces, Greek gyros, Hawaiian-flavored Chicken...I'm constantly trying to take some well known recipe and give it my own spin. Also love going out to any restaurant, especially for things I can't cook (Asian, Indian, West Africa, Middle East, a really juicy burger).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A nice kitchen to cook
A very irreverent laugh
Intelligent and meaningful debate
The Infield Fly Rule
Peanut Butter
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends or a movie. Usually both.

Because you think we would have a good conversation! I value the ability to talk open and honestly (and hopefully with some laughs) to someone about any topic, both major and minor, more than anything else!

And while this is cliche, as a newbie to the city it would be fun to do all the bucket list stuff one does in LA, and have a partner in crime* to join me.

*Preferably not actual crimes though please do not ask me to help you rob a bank.
