I am vegetarian, rubenesque, and a bit of a hippie.

My Self-Summary

I love symbols, art, anthropology, dancing, languages, trees, drums, bells, books, music, clay, obscure instruments, playfulness.

I'm into Gustav Klimt, Renoir, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Toulous-Latrec, DaVinci, Brian Froud, and Thalia Took. I like happy hardcore and sitars, I have a violin but I can't play. I can play dombek well enough. I like world/tribal/fusion/spontaneous/goddess bellydancing, (like amrican tribal style or fat chance bellydance)-- especially wearing all my bells and assorted jingly sparkly items. I also do Bharatha Natyam and Ballroom.

I'm liberal. And I'm a California girl all the way. I grew up outside in the sunshine running wild on an old ranch, through yellowed grassy fields and an overgrown citrus grove, climbin' trees in my cowgirl boots, eating dirt, etc etc... then moving to Siiiiiimi Valley (nothing to do after 8) getting to trouble with my best friend, catching fish and frogs in the radioactive Arroyo wash, being in theater, trying to get a jump start on college... there's a lot of people I love here, even though I am itching to LEAVE... AGAIN! I need to travel.
I love new ideas that stretch my boundaries-- that's why I love anthropology. It forces you to open your mind to totally foreign ideas and concepts that you could never see when you're living in this shell of western society. I'm definitely a relativist.

I love Indian culture. I'm a vegetarian. The short answer is that I support animal rights, the long answer is... just too long. I'm trying, yet again, to transition to a vegan (optimally raw vegan) lifestyle... but I love cheese so much!
I love trees. I love camping. I'm a hippie like that. I like good writing in every sense and I my sprinkle my punctuation "artistically."

I do not support the death penalty-- why should the government(i.e. WE) be allowed to decide who dies and who lives? there is no such thing as hard evidence. And you only get one life as far as we know... Work together for a better civilization altogether. I don't think marriage should be monitored by government at all. Two consenting adults shouldn't need the votes of their fellow citizens to live how they want to. Love and relationships are wonderful in whatever form them come in where all parties involved are happy-- gay, straight, polyamorous...

I'm afraid of dying. I don't want to die. I can't fathom the concept of not existing. As scared as I am, I'm a pretty big risk-taker. Earth is so awesome. I want to really experience my home planet before I leave it, ya know?

I love funny movies, I love funny people. I love the show Absolutely Fabulous. I LOVE satire. SNL used to be hysterical. I like watching Who's Line is it Anyway? but it's losing it's zing too-- especially since I watch it on abc and the effing 700 club comes on after- guh! I like satirical stuff like South Park or Family Guy, (of course I also enjoy the absurdity factor of this type of humor). Early Dane Cook is funny... Ellen DeGeneres is funny... oh yeah-- Venture Brothers hehehe... Metalocalypse... wow, I've got a lot of adult swim stuff on here! I haven't been in the habit of watching TV for a while, it sucks your life away! Blow up your TV!

Alright, now I'm gettin lazy and I'm just going to insert additional interests here: SCA, raves, rainbows, crochet, India, cultural anthropolgy, relativism, Joni Mitchell, world of warcraft, Paganism, ceramics, lingustics, theatre, mendhi, fiber arts...

What I’m doing with my life

Last year I finished my BA in Studio Art (emphasis in ceramics) with a minor in Anthropology, I'm not sure what to do with my life right now. I'm at that weird point where (this probably sounds dumb but...) adulthood kinda came out of left field for me-- I've been pretty responsible my whole life: Set goals, make a plan, have fun, reach my goal... but NOW what's my goal, you know? I don't want to go back to school just because I don't know what else to do! I love art, I want to help the world- volunteer in the peace corps, use my skills to help people. Maybe teach people something, but ... what do I have of value beside photoshop skills?! ugh... so that's where I'm at on that. :P

I currently work as a marketing support/ sales' bitch/ graphic designer/ sales analyst/ personal assistant/ limited IT support/ VBA Excel programming... In the horticultural industry- which is cool, probably the best arena for me yet. I love plants! especially trees! I'm learning a lot at this job, and I get to wear a lot of hats (of responsibility), so I like that aspect.

I'm trying to get out and about in the world. Hopefully I'll be learning new things and meeting new people. I'm planning on attending burning man next year, and other adventures of that nature.

My greatest ambitions before I die would be: travel the earth, get a PhD. in something, teach a class on something that I'm passionate about, change someone's life for the better with my skills/passions, build my own tree house in the forest, maintain a sustainable farm that can support all of my family/commune and then some entirely off-grid, grow my hair down to my ankles, adopt kids, plant a forest, become a midwife (maybe), sell a couple paintings and sculptures, learn as much as I can- especially languages- I'm working on Hindi right now, and become fully enlightened of course. :P

I’m really good at

Microsoft Excel (hells yeah!), crocheting, sketching the female figure, learning new things, being understanding, making faces, Photoshop, fictionary/balderdash...

The first things people usually notice about me

My astounding charm and wit? I'll just assume that's it.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

BOOKS::
The Tea House Fires, Tipping the Velvet, The DaVinci Code, Clan of the Cavebear, Mists of Avalon, 1984, Two Nights of Excess, Animal Farm, The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, The Four Agreements, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams - oh and Mark Twain... man, I wish I would read more. I do read tidbits from my Google reader- mostly stuff that's of green or vegetarian interest, funky architectural design, sustainable living, modern homesteading, and how to's on instructables.com (I LOVE how-to stuff on the internet, I think it's one of the best things to come out of the web!)

MOVIES::
Adaptation, Crash, Kung Fu Hustle, Veer Zaara, Amelie, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Hero, Shaun of the dead, Sense and Sensibility, A Life Less Ordinary, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Star Wars, Men in Tights, The Princess Bride, Young Frankenstein, Star Trek, Support Your Local Sheriff, The Music Man, Moulin Rouge, The Guru, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Quills]], [Labyrinth, Cabaret, Love Actually...

MUSIC::
Iron and Wine, The Ditty Bops, The Peasall Sisters, Simon and Garfunkel, Styx, Daft Punk, Natalie Merchant, Flaming Lips, Dave Matthews, John Denver, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jewel, Ben Harper, Postal Service, Norah Jones, Queen, Billy Idol, The Proclaimers, The Cranberries, Udit Narayan, Anita Coats, Eagles, Elton John, Eiffel 65, Alanis Morrisette, The Brobdingnagian Bards, Cake, Barenaked Ladies]], [Credence Clearwater Revival, Blues Traveler, Greenday, Regina Spektor, Pendulum... acoustic folky type stuff at the moment, or live drums - I especially love stuff you can dance to!

FOOD::
I love all food! I didn't realize how much I like to cook until a friend pointed out how much I know and talk about food and cooking. I love weird foods and I'm into spicy stuff, I especially like Indian, Mexican, and Thai... My newfound love is green curry tofu! with bamboo shoots! OMG!! So good! I'm not really picky, I eat most anything (except animals) but I have to say this: I don't like cheese that is liquid at room temperature, or things that are too salty or too sweet). It's true. I love onions, dark chocolate, potatoes, cilantro, mushrooms, basil, mozzarella cheese, hazelnut, sushi, green curry, tomatoes, garlic...not necessarily all together though.. Maybe.. If I'm in a weird mood.

The six things I could never do without

1) mountains
2) music
3) deciduous trees
4) learning about other cultures
5) color
6) LOVE

I spend a lot of time thinking about

On a typical Friday night I am

Playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.5ed biatch!) or running wild in WeHo with friends. Though it's been pretty low key lately, since my car has been out of commission... wot wahhh... It's been a cool adventure-- traveling on the buses and trains I previously was oblivious to. I will be SO happy to drive my car again. I promise I'll get you an oil change on a regular basis! I promise! *sniffle* Just come home!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm working on my physical and emotional health and fitness a LOT right now. I'm not really doing well at this point, but I'm really focusing on incorporating more activity into my day-- like biking to work and rollerskating.. .*cough-square dancing-cough* etc etc. It has become more important now that I'm getting older and feeling my joints creek.. oi!

I am trying to spend a lot of time with myself, just enjoying my own company, and better understanding who I am, and where I need improvement, BUT I'm also finding ways to get out and experience the world and make new friends. I feel like I've never really been good at dating, so I'm kindof working on that too-- in that I'm adjusting my perspective on it. Sometimes I get really excited about a person I've met. I think the three day rule about calling someone is bullshit. I don't like the trick-the-other-person-into-thinking-you-sort-of-don't-like-them-but-you-really-do game. If you want to talk to someone, talk to them! If you don't, then don't! I am understanding that if someone is busy-- then they're busy. Why should we be ashamed about being excited about another person and wanting to hang out with them more?!

Also, *ahem*, while I have used substances in the past, and enjoyed my experiences (somewhat), I'm not really into using them as a form of entertainment.
I think it is quite telling about the company you're keeping when the group sees no better option than to sit around and drink until they're having fun-- alcohol should just grease your social wheels, not fuel them, eh?

You should message me if

...You know of something fun to do in the area
... or you have a special technique for frying tofu
... or if you have an exceptional knowledge of Simon and Garfunkel or Flight of the Conchords lyrics
... you hate murlocs and gnome rogues
...you are a murloc or a gnome rogue :P
OH! I'm trying to start up a D&D group in the Simi Valley area, so if you wanna join let me know! 3.5 ed, mixed skill level. :B
