I am not interested in being your soul mate, your reason for getting out of bed in the morning, your mother, or your therapist. I believe a relationship, romantic or otherwise, is two complete people who's lives intersect in an interesting way. All I want out of a relationship is somebody who'll hold the door, buy me a drink, tell me I'm pretty and kiss me before they leave for work in the morning.
Now, is that so difficult?
I am often sure of myself but rarely sure of others. Sarcastic, but soft-hearted. Human beings annoy me but prejudiced people annoy me even more. I have a bizarre mixture of conservative and liberal tendencies. I can be stubbornly independent and quietly insecure at the same time, and if you try to call me on either of them I'll probably deny it. I absolutely adore children, until they learn to talk, and I adore them again once they're teenagers.
I can sometimes have a Denis Leary kind of sense of humor, which means anybody and everybody is fair game- old people, fat people, children, cancer patients, and myself included. If you can't tolerate a little sarcastic remark now and then, don't come anywhere near me, because you won't like me.
I can be very friendly and very flirtatious, but be forewarned, if you treat me like some cyber-sexing poptart I'll at the very least ignore you. Yes, I am bisexual, but not because I'm willing to sleep with anything that'll hold still long enough. Rather, I can like someone for their personality, and gender doesn't enter into it. I'm attracted to spirit and sense of humor, not whatever bits you've got between your legs.
I LOVE quotes. Famous quotes, historical quotes, funny quotes, whatever. I collect them compulsively. Here is an example of some of my favorites-
“The true measure of an individual is how he treats a person who can do him absolutely no good.” — Ann Landers (Esther Pauline Friedman), American newspaper “advice” columnist (1918-2002)
“The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out.” — Baron Thomas Babington Macauley, English historian and statesman (1800-1859)
“Freedom means choosing your burden.” — Hephzibah Menuhin, American pianist (1920-1981)
“Imagination was given to us to compensate for what we are not; a sense of humor was given to us to console us for what we are.” — Mack McGinnis
"Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian." — Dennis Wholey, 20th/21st-century self-help author and journalist
“The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have.” — Woody Allen, American humorist and filmmaker (b. 1935)
I dunno, these describe yourself bits always strike me as a bit silly. If you want to know more, ask me!
I am sarcastic, open-minded, and strong
