My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Human, female, U.S. citizen, resident of California, county of Butte, city of Chico who can't see the people that 'like' me. So if you really do like me you'll have to message me to let me know. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work with special needs kids from preschool to 5th grade as a speech and language pathologist. It's absolutely the most wonderful, challenging, heart warming, and heart breaking experience I've had.
Other than that, I'm just trying to live a life that has joy and depth.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm SO good at laughing loudly and inappropriately, cooking, remembering useless trivia and generally knowing facts about things that people really don't care about.
My friends tell me that I'm good at listening and giving advice. I would rather be the friend they call for a crazy night of fun, but it always seems to be that I'm the nurturer in the group.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
are a mystery to me. I'm not other people.
But I have been told by people that their initial impression of my shyness was WRONG. I am not shy or demure once I'm comfortable with you.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I love to read, I love movies, I love music, and food. How does one narrow these down into a short list?! I'll try.

As far as music is concerned I am open to almost any type of music as long as it was made with passion and some talent. Some of my favorites are; The Beatles, MGMT, Bob Dylan, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Bjork, Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits, Feist, Neko Case, Bon Iver, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Led Zeppelin, The Black Keys, Erik Satie, Black Sabbath, CocoRosie, My Brightest Diamond, Nina Simone, Joanna Newsom, TV On The Radio, Grizzly Bear, Cults, Sufjan Stevens, and on and on and on . . .
Dancing! I love it, but mostly do it in the privacy of my house, except when I'm really drunk.
I'm a podcast addict as well, This American Life, Wait wait, Radiolab (!), The Moth, All Songs Considered

Some movies that I love are To Kill a Mockingbird, The Jerk, The Princess and The Warrior, Fitzcarraldo (essentially every Herzog movie) , Wes Anderson movies, Morvern Callar, Dead Man's Shoes, Shaun of the Dead, After The Wedding, Amelie, Red Road, Monty Python movies and I have to admit that I really like gross zombie/horror movies like Dead Alive.

Some of my favorite TV shows are British such as Nevermind The Buzzcock and The Graham Norton Show, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Qi, anything with or narrated by Stephen Fry. I also like Dirty Jobs, True Blood, Dexter, Mad Men, Homicide, PBS shows (Masterpiece Theatre, Mystery, Nature), and THE WIRE!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an only child and books were my playmates. I have been known to read a book a day. I can only narrow the list down to one that I never tire of reading, Jane Eyre.

I was a professional cook for five years. Food is a great passion of mine, and I'll try most anything once. Except really stinky foods or some offal meats.
I do restrict my meat consumption to locally raised, humanely slaughtered and preferably organic.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A shower in the morning, my cat, my bed, my family, my friends, coffee. Not necessarily in that order.

Lost my cat, and it was incredibly hard and sad. Pets always break your heart eventually.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. Nothing. Something.
My mind tends to wander around on it's own accord. Not literally, that would be creepy and I would die.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
out with friends for dinner and drinks. This may lead to other mischievous activities, but what you don't know won't hurt you.
Or, as I am doing right now, dancing around drunkenly in my living room singing at the top of my lungs to this song.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This is a trick! It can't be a very private thing if one is willing to post it on the internet.

Oh, if I'm really hungry and my stomach growls very hard . . . I sneeze. Yep, that's as private as I'm getting on the interweb.

And one more thing, I'm pretty shy about making the first move with someone that I like. To the point that is probably detrimental to my social life, but I'm trying to change that.
