confused, quiet, and probably tired
My self-summary Propose an edit
Hi, I'm Lauren.
I guess my most prominent characteristic is my shyness (usually),
but I can also be very open. If I'm talking to you one-on-one
online I will probably talk too much!
I'm a really open person (or at least I try to be!) and I'm
comfortable with most conversation. It's hard to take it too far
with me, unless I JUST met you and haven't had a chance to judge
your creepitude yet.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Right now I'm a student at University of Toronto with a particular
interest in English/lit and possibly film. I'm unemployed right
now, but that may or may not change this year. I don't know! Right
now I'm just kind of coasting and seeing where life will take me.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I always get stuck on this question. I guess that says a lot about
me. I'm supposed to be good at writing and I am told that I have
"found my voice" as far as that goes. That is always a good thing--
I like that people can tell when it's me writing.
I can be a good public speaker if I am prepared, I like to talk to
a group of people and get them to pay attention and be interested
in what I'm saying. That being said, I don't think I'm interested
in teaching classes. That's too much for me. I find my comfort
level in small groups. I taught 11-13 year olds saxophone for 12
weeks, two sessions of 6 weeks and I found that I was good at and
really enjoyed teaching those kids. This is probably partly due to
my high levels of patience. I'm often patient to a fault and
sometimes let people walk all over me. I'm trying to be more
assertive!
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
They notice that I'm very shy and disturbingly quiet. I'm sorry!
I'm really chatty one-on-one, I just don't do well in groups. I
enjoy going to parties and that sort of thing, I am just not very
good at getting involved.
After the initial silence, people tell me that I'm very mature. I
have yet to decide if I like this or not.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
As far as books, I've been reading science/speculative fiction,
mostly Philip K. Dick. Other than him, I've read some short stories
and short short stories as far as SF goes, and I've kind of started
the book Neuromancer. I have a very silly love of the Abarat series
written by Clive Barker. Mostly I'll just read fiction I
guess.
Movies:
THE DEVIL'S CHAIR IS MY FAVOURITE MOVIE. GO SEE IT.
I have pretty diverse taste in food. I'm willing to try anything.
I'm a sucker for Indian and Thai food, though who isn't these
days?
I like to bake things though I don't do it as often as I used to.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
1. Love & affection
2. Good food
3. A pulse
4. Great books and movies
5. Laughter
6. Muzak
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
The utter largeness of the universe, what underwear I want to wear
today, how I'm going to turn out as a person over the next few
years, what I want from life... That sort of thing.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Usually I like to hang out with one or two people and relax. I'm
pretty low-key that way, I don't often like lots of people or
really big social events. Not that I will avoid them completely! I
am in the mood for parties once in a while. :)
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
Sometimes I'l'l break up the monotony of the subway ride every day
by thinking totally dirty thoughts about a stranger.
You should message me if Propose an edit
You are intelligent, funny and not a total creep. If you really
want to talk to me, go for it, just try to seem a little socially
capable.
"what's up" is not a very good intro. If I respond to this, you
have 1 or 2 messages to be more interesting or I'm not
bothering.
I just really want to meet smart, funny people in my area or around
Toronto that I can hang out with. :)
