I love reading, I have a deep love of science fiction and fantasy,
but I'll read pretty much anything. Some standouts:The Name
of the Wind, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Wizard's First Rule,
The Puppet Masters, Fahrenheit 451, The Lost World, Rainbow Six, In
the Night Kitchen, Harry Potter...
For movies, I'll watch anything that isn't horror. I think I went
to the movies 7 times over the winter break. I love going to the
actual theater to watch movies, but I will gladly snuggle up under
the covers and watch Netflix at home. It's a personal dream of mine
to have a home theater eventually. Not just a big TV, but like one
of those old classic theaters that you just don't find anymore.
Some of my favorites: Castle in the Sky, The Professional,
Star Wars, Bowfinger, eXistenZ, Battle Royale, Dogma, The Abyss,
James Bond films, Empire Records, The Princess Bride, Some Like it
Hot, Pulp Fiction, V for Vendetta, Serenity There's really
too many to list...
On television, Top Chef; Big Bang Theory; Project Runway;
Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives; and Sherlock. I'll probably
regret saying this, but I'm a huge brony and I love My
Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the new show is really
really well done, and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I watch
it. Don't hate till you watch it.
Anime has always been a huge part of my life, ever
since I was 4-5 years old watching imported anime VHS with my
cousin. Nerd alert: come September, I will be the president
of the Rutgers Camden Anime and Manga Club. Favorites:
Ranma 1/2, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Toshokan Sensou
(Library War), Full Metal Panic, Gurren Lagann, Macross Frontier,
Gundam 0083. I watch 3-4 series each season as the
episodes are released in Japan, so I've watched a lot...
Musically, I like a wide spectrum of things, from rock to j-pop to
classical. Things that come to mind... Our Lady Peace,
RATM, RHCP, NIN, AFI, Finch, Sevendust, Silversun Pickups, Smashing
Pumpkins, T.M.Revolution, Mad Capsule Markets, Tsunami Bomb,
Florence and the Machine, Daft Punk, Rammstein, Asian Kung-Fu
Generation, Enya, Ellegarden, Yoko Kanno, Mumford & Sons, Joe
Hisaishi, and plenty of others.
Japanese food is my favorite, followed by Italian.
Blowfish sashimi in Japan is quite possibly the best thing I've
ever eaten, and seafood rice with baby octopi at this tiny
restaurant in Venice is something that I will never forget.
Honestly I'll eat anything but mushrooms. I'm lactose intolerant,
but I will eat dairy anyway. How would I live without ice cream and
