My Notes edit

My self-summary

I'm an escapist. I have read over 700 books and watched over 1200 movies and yet I'm still here. Naturally, some of that reading stuck, so I know a little about a lot and can describe it with a larger than average vocabulary. I like people and most of my friends would say I'm pretty laid back.

I've met dozens of people from the internet(mostly in large groups) and nobody's turned out to be an axe murderer yet! I'm starting to think all those horror movies are wrong! Or maybe I'm just not in the "target" demographic for internet assassins' victims. It's actually been pretty rare that I've been afraid for my life. All you would-be killers, don't target me just to prove me wrong, okay?

I love hiking and the outdoors (wow, that sounds cheesy). I do, but really I'm just emphasizing it to make it seem less like I'm at home all the time reading books and watching movies. I go outside and do stuff, I swear! I drove up to Port Townsend just recently and enjoyed the lovely beaches, the restaurants, a local play (Tartuffe), and the interesting people.

I like animals, and for the most part, they like me - except for wallabies. A young wallaby bit me on the knee once. *shakes fist* Stupid wallabies! Ironically, I get along famously with people named Joey.

I'm completely puzzled why mayonnaise and banana sandwiches taste good to me. Ew!

Learning to accept certain political, social and economic realities is a constant struggle for me. Luckily, I have all those movies and books to escape into! Hmmmm, I may have found the reason I'm turning to the internet to meet people...

QuickMatchers, my SN is LastGuyOnEarth

What I'm doing with my life

I'm finding a cause, a purpose, something I can do to make a real difference helping people. But not as a doctor or lawyer.

I'm figuring out what I want and working to achieve it.

I'm really good at

Solving problems. Everyday problems. Your problems. My problems.

Listening.

Understanding.

Getting pop culture references.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

I'm tall. Bordering on freakish.

I have really dark eyelashes. Sometimes I get asked if I wear eyeliner (I don't).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) Books - The Fountainhead; Guns, Germs and Steel; Ender's Game; Dune; The Time Traveler's Wife; To Kill A Mockingbird; this list could go on a while...

(b) Movies - The Princess Bride; The Sixth Sense; Braveheart; Groundhog Day; The Matrix; Amelie; The Usual Suspects; Amadeus; Good Will Hunting; Life Is Beautiful; Pulp Fiction; A River Runs Through It; Glory; Harold and Maude; Antonia's Line;

(c)Music - My music collection has been called "eclectic" fairly often. Magnetic Fields; Counting Crows; Bruce Hornsby; Paul Simon; The Postal Service; Weezer; Sting/Police; Rush; NIN; Natalie Merchant; Billy Joel; U2; Stevie Nicks; Aimee Mann; Alice in Chains; Peter Gabriel; Suzanne Vega; Cat Stevens; Regina Spektor; more...

(d) Foods - Lemon meringue pie; hot chocolate; curry; calzones; really, I'll eat just about anything, but I believe in eating things with flavor. I enjoy a meal with courses that complement each other.

The six things I could never do without

- music

- good friends

- time to think and reflect

- my sense of humor

- fruits and vegetables

- a towel

I spend a lot of time thinking about

- why people can vote for things that are not in their best interests

- how to increase my longevity while still really enjoying life and cutting loose

- the eternal debate: Pirate or ninja?

- where all the missing left socks go.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home, watching a movie or reading a good book, or out with friends.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I read about mirror neurons, evolutionary psychology, and other nerdy subjects. For fun.

You should message me if

you're bored and funny. And not funny weird, but funny haha. And not funny as in you think you're funny, but as in your friends laugh WITH you and people you've never met think you're funny when they overhear your conversation. No pressure, though...

Well, just entertaining would be okay, too.
