My self-summary
My name is Laura and I think talking about myself is the essence of awkward so this will be brief. I was born and raised in New York. I love my family. I like to read and I love music. I generally find talking about myself pretty awkward. I try not to take the world too seriously, seeing as it's apparently ending and all.

I am fiesty, shy, and witty

What I’m doing with my life
I want to be a teacher. I'm leaning towards elementary school. Right now I'm in grad school.

I’m really good at
Writing. I've been told I'm funny, so making people laugh. Remembering useless, but interesting bits of information. Letting things go. Listening. Making others feel comfortable. Being logical (Spock has been my hero since childhood)

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
For books there are too many to count. Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorites. I still love A Secret Garden and A Little Princess from when I was a kid. Faulkner's As I Lay Dying and Absalom, Absalom. I love The Canterbury Tales, especially The Pardoner's Tale. Pride and Prejudice because I'm a girl and it's practically the law. I can also appreciate that Ayn Rand's books are beautiful even though I think she was insane. A Clockwork Orange, Brave New Word, E.M. Forster.

Movies: The reboot of Star Trek was pretty wonderful. Monty Python's movies. The mid 1990's version of A Secret Garden and A Little Princess. I liked Life is Beautiful, but I cried. I cried a lot. So, never again. I also love animation movies (does that make me a big kid?) Disney, Ice Age, Up, Finding Nemo.

Music: Queen, Journey, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Animals, America, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, Don McClean, The Kinks, The Pogues, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Boston, Chicago, The Who, The Clash, Cream, The Eagles, The Boomtown Rats. and others of the more modern kind.

Food: anything that doesn't contain vinegar (especially the balsamic variety), or tomatoes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Things to write and what I want to read next. Other times I'm adding things to my list of things to do before I die. Plus I daydream a lot.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I get really nervous, I stutter and awful lot. It stops me from doing a lot of things and I really need to get over it. And I use sarcasm as a defense.
