I am funloving, intelligent, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

This box = pressure! Minimum required makes me feel like a HS student again. What to say, what to say...
I am a non-native Pensacolian.(Pensacolan? Pensacolite? I don't know what the suffix is here.) I arrived to the Gulf Coast Oct of 2007 and, much like most transplants I have met (and some long term residents) I do regret this decision, unless I am sunning at P'cola Beach. When I am on the beach or floating in the bay/gulf I can't stop thinking about how lucky I am to be here.

I consider my hometown to be Fargo, ND although I spent the majority of my youth in Moorhead, MN. However, the towns pretty much blend together so the area is basically one town, it's just Fargo is more recognizable (thank you Coen bros). After a lengthy stint in Minneapolis/St. Paul, I had a brief stopover in Austin, TX before landing here. I enjoy joking and sarcastic humor. I love laughing and being happy, but am totally cognizant that this is not always possible. I like to passionately debate topical matters. I read a LOT. I play an EXCELLENT game of Trivial Pursuit (just not the SNL version). I am pretty emphatic as you can tell by my overuse of caps to express my feelings. I'm very much into history, economics, and politics, and how interconnected everything is. I love to cook and experiment with new seasonings and crazy ingredients. I sing in the shower, or anywhere, really, unabashedly. I'm not going to say my singing is GOOD, just that I do it. I never pass up a roller coaster or a water park. I love traveling, and am totally willing to cross the country to see a band I feel is a must see and to afford this I do eliminate certain things that most people would consider essential, material things. (Example, and this is a make/break to some people, but I do not own a car. I don't rely on anyone for anything and have lived my life like this for years. It was just easier in a metropolitan area where pretty much everyone does it), but I find the trade off well worth it. For one thing, my bicycling has given me legs of steel.
I am a serial monogamist, and when it comes to relationships and meeting people, I'm shy and move slowly. Mostly I find my connections through tolerance, patience, understanding, an open mind, intelligence, your musical/movie/book taste, and sense of humor. These things and such mean way more to me than your physical beauty. I am not perfect and I wouldn't want anyone be too ashamed to tell me something about themselves, as I am very open. *unless it was a heinous crime. that you might want to keep to yourself*

What I’m doing with my life

Good question. What AM I doing with my life? Trying not to have a defeatist attitude mostly. I work the M-F grind for a local avionics technology company in a supply chain position. I like it because it gets me out of customer interaction. It's not that I don't like people, it's that I have a low tolerance for stupidity. I blame this on my German heritage. It also expands my mind by being complex, requiring a big picture mindset and an ability to keep many things on a front burner, thus it's never boring. Luckily I can leave the job behind at the end of the day. I hate it when work is the only thing two people can talk about. I also really like the people I work with. I learn so much from them every day, engineering brains, mechanical brains, those who can think very big picture and also those who can think very linear. I crave knowledge, literary and practical alike, so it's a good group to pick that up from. Like most everyone, I have my eye on other things and will move towards them, slowly and surely. My main focus right now is getting into law, via Paralegal and maybe becoming a lawyer after that. Pardon me for being a little Erin Brockovich on it, but researching, studying, and making something explainable is something I feel I am good at it and would like to do. i have had many various types of jobs and will probably continue to.

I’m really good at

conversation, but not necessarily small talk. I enjoy a back and forth and if you can't hold your own in conversation, this becomes a major problem. I really find it sort of insulting if I ask you a bunch of questions and you can't bother to want to know anything about me. Reminds me of a cartoon in the New Yorker I once read. "Enough about me, but nothing about you quite yet." I find a lot of guys and girls are like that. I like to think I am good at finding humor in rough times, that old adage of "if I don't laugh, I would cry. I might be okay at modesty. :) I also like to pride myself in figuring things out on my own. I will ask if I need assistance but I will have tried to puzzle it out on my own first.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile. OH, and I have been told that I have a supervillan laugh. (I throw my head back, because I believe everything should be done wholeheartedly.) I'd like to say my wit as well, but that might just be me. I really don't know what people first notice about me. i wouldn't even know how to go about asking that.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I very much enjoy short stories, fiction, auto/biographies. Not much into Sci-fi or comics, although I did read Illustrated Man and the Preacher series. My favorite writers are John Iriving, Iriwn Shaw, Louise Erdrick, Kingsolver, Sedaris (amy and David). Solzhenitzyn, John O' Hara, Chuck Klosterman (not so much Palahniuk), Wally Lamb, Michener, Sarte, Chekov, Eggers, and really so so many more. Also, pardon me for acting like a teenage girl, but MAN am I into Twilight. The first time I read the series I was bemoaning the low quality of it, but after seeing the first movie and re-reading I just...am wanting it to never end.

I love really terrible, cheesy movies, but also indie, foreign language, etc. I didn't grow up with a lot of money or even a VCR for years, so I probably haven't seen the movie you are talking about, especially since I tend to avoid the action or science fiction movie. Oh and when I find a movie I like, I watch it over and over again. My netflix STAYS at the 500 limit. So Movies: For dumbness/quotability I like Clueless, Night at the Roxbury, Dumb and Dumber, Harold and Kumar, Great White Hype, and my ONE Disney nod: Aladdin.
For Breathtakingly Painful I like Brokeback Mountain, Monsters Ball, PRIME! (the flashback of the good times of the relationship always gets me crying), Raising Victor Vargas, Eternal Sunshine, and Love Liza.
Never fails to scare I like Ring 1, Blair Witch Project 1, The Exorcist.
For awesomeness I like Secretary, Birthday Girl, Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Dirty Pretty Things, Station Agent, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Strangers with Candy, Rushmore, The Great White Hype, Naked Lunch, Crash (david cronenberg's) This Is Spinal Tap, Living in Oblivion.
For mind bending, Matrix (Only the first one, natch) Requiem for a Dream, Butterfly Effect, Happiness.
And just to add, I did NOT get: Closer, Junebug, Ice Storm, and was completely unimpressed by Crash (the non David Cronenberg version)

Music: I have read many a time that girls don't spend as much time on music as guys do and I think that is absolute bullshit. I was fortunate enough to be given a wide horizon of musical influence by the people I knew growing up and this remains to this day. Hip Hop, R&B, "cock rock" (that's glam metal), grunge, Classic Rock, Outlaw Country. That's real country with fiddle, steel guitar, a real twang. So basically, Johnny, Waylon, Merle, Willie, Roseanne Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter, etc. Britney Spears, I'm obsessed. Paramore, Bush, Goo Goo Dolls, Outkast (and their solo ventures), John Legend, Rihanna, Ciara, RHCP, Don Henley, Eagles, Juelz Santana, Dwight Yoakam, Offspring, LL Cool J, Adele, Amy Winehouse, The Judds, Wynonna Judd, Heart, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Led Zeppelin, Weezer, Tool, Counting Crows, Alice in Chains, Plies, Konvict Music, Akon, DJ Kahled, Ace Hood, Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Willie Nelson, Tracy Chapman, U2 (not live though, Bono is an ass), UGK, Stone Temple Pilots, Elton John, Rodney Crowell, Cinderella, Thin Lizzy, Dokken, Ratt, Danzing, Skid Row, Guns N Roses!!!!! Motley Crue, Y&T, Poison, Tesla, Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Petty and the Heartbreakers, BOB FREAKIN DYLAN, Kings of Leon, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Runaways, Veruca salt, Alice N Chains, Judas Priest, the Nuge, L.A. Guns, all that cock rock/glam rock b.s., Metallica, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Cheap Trick, Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, Neil Young, Taking Back Sunday, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, David Bowie, Wilco, Chamillionaire, Three 6 Mafia. I could go on forever, but I will stop now. Basically, I have a very large range, and music is probably playing in my background at all times.

Food: It would be easier to name what I don't like, i.e., Lima Beans and Liver. I eat EVERYTHING else.

The six things I could never do without

Reading material
Kittens.
A Kitchen
Internet (I could do without it, but it's uncomfortable.)
Laughter.
Sex.
Music. I know this is 7, but I can also never do without stretching my boundries. (8).

I spend a lot of time thinking about

winning the lottery, the weather, what I am going to eat next, politics, world news, and admittedly, celebrity gossip. It's hard to pinpoint everything. It changes day to day for everyone and their current stressors or situations I imagine.

On a typical Friday night I am

In bed by 9:30. I know, I know. I am just so tired at the end of the work week though! And I am up by 7:30 am on Saturday mornings. This makes my nap seem more acceptable.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

has already been admitted. I am obsessed with Britney Spears and read the Twilight series. Sure I have my share of private things, but...there is probably a reason why it's private. The more we get to know each other, the more it comes out.

You should message me if

You DON'T say things like, "me and my girlz" or use 3 instead of E or other ridiculous things like that. And basically if you find me interesting, natch. This question is slightly nonsensical. Ooh, if I "wink"ed you, that means I thought your profile was witty and had a lot in common with me but I am too shy to write you first. Also, I imagine that what you would write to me would be way better than the corny thing I would write to you. As I admitted earlier, I am shy.
