My Notes edit
My self-summary
I like to cook, read, study, watch movies, get out in the fresh air, write, work on hobbies (programming, carving, sewing, math and physics uh-huh!). Dinner and conversation and a movie at home make a great evening. So do frisbee and hot tub and pizza. I enjoy game night with friends, but I am still trying to figure out how to do it without snacking excessively. I usually read myself to sleep at day's end.
I like people with active gray matter, people who can string together original thoughts or ooze cleverness or churn out fascinating information, people who are humorous, people who are curious about the world and who like to discover new things and new points of view. I like kids; they are cute and surprising.
A person's way of thinking is important. Tolerance and respect of other people are important. Discussion and argument are commodities and are great ways to share ideas and inform oneself, not just to influence others. Well-reasoned views are worthwhile views; opinions based on authority are worth little. This includes one's opinions on deities and spirits. I often connect better with people with a natural worldview, and less well with people who believe in spirit healing and supernatural powers.

I took The Politics Test: In spite of the label it tagged me with, I am not a Democrat, but I am even less a Republican. In spite of their convenience I disdain labels, at least when someone tries to tag one on me. They carry too much baggage and they shackle. And they are rarely properly descriptive.
What I'm doing with my life
I'm really good at
2) Making jokes that fly under the radar. It's the delivery. Or maybe I mumble. A few people tune into my quips and reinforce my opinion that I am, in fact, sane. Others never notice the jokes but do notice that I say some weird things. Others just think I AM weird. This last group is correct, but for the wrong reasons.
3) Eating my veggies. I am pretty good at fixing them, too.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: the Ender books (by Card), Jared Diamond's best sellers. Dawkins' God Delusion was a fun response to many old but not-quite-satisfying arguments.
Food: Greek, Italian, other ethnic grub. I admit it, I like Taco Bell. And pizza and Mt. Dew.
Music: Sibelius (The Origin of Fire grabs me by the innards), Nielsen (Love all 6 Symphonies), Mahler, Irish/Celtic, Don Grusin, Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (with or without The Wizard of Oz). I love a good horn section or big band. I wouldn't walk far to hear C&W unless it was live and the musicians smokin'. I would run far to avoid rap, hip-hop, and the like.
The six things I could never do without
I like a sharp chef's knife, too. It's the single most useful tool in the kitchen.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
