My self-summary
TL;DR: lawyer/comedian/history junkie/writer/strawberry milkshake enthusiast.

There are two things that drive my life: a desire to learn and a desire to laugh. Although I have degrees and have done the whole post-grad thing, my curiosity could never be limited to the confines of a classroom. If I'm not learning, I don't feel like I'm living.

I love comedy. I've written scripts and sketches with friends, taken improv classes, and even tried my hand at stand up more than a few times. My impressions are the best (current favorites: Rand Paul and my neighbor's cat). My friends say I'm the life of the party, and while that's true, I definitely enjoy a quiet evening in or dinner out.

I'm ambitious. I had pretty humble beginnings, but I managed to overcome them and put myself through a top-flight college and law school, with energy to spare. There's this song, in the Broadway musical "Hamilton," where Aaron Burr laments Alexander's relentless work ethic: "Hamilton doesn't hesitate/He exhibits no restraint/He takes and he takes and he takes." That's pretty much me.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from law school this past year, then passed the bar exam. I'm currently completing a clerkship year with a judge. Basically, I help my judge research and write his opinions, and keep him laughing. Once that ends this summer, I want to practice commercial litigation (arguing in court), with a focus on intellectual property and start-up companies.

Outside of the courtroom, I write a lot. This year, I picked up boxing, and I love it. I've also been teaching myself guitar for the past couple of months.

I recently lost a bunch of weight, and haven't had the opportunity to take many pictures since reaching my goal. Hence, the relative lack of photos.
I’m really good at
Reading, writing, listening, telling stories, and making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
My crazy broad shoulders. I'm built like a linebacker (hence the name). I'm also a pretty snazzy dresser. I get a lot of comments on my dimples, too. A week or two ago, some bro at the gym complemented me on my waist.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read about one book a week. I mostly read history, though I'll read pretty much any nonfiction. Recent favorites include "So You've Been Publicly Shamed," and "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up."

Movies: The Good Shepherd, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Anchorman, Old School.

TV Shows: Mr Robot, Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, Happy Endings, New Girl, Community, Boardwalk Empire, The Mindy Project, True Detective, The Americans, and Mad Men.

Music: Mostly Indie/Alternative and Hip-Hop. Bloc Party and the Smiths are all time favorites.

Food: Italian, American Contemporary, French, Indian, and Ethiopian. I love Japanese food, particularly shabu with a big group of friends.
The six things I could never do without
My iPod
A good book
The "In Our Time" podcast
A gym
Ties
Gin and Tonic
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why there are so many Dairy Queens in central Maine.

Whether we wouldn't be better without written language.
On a typical Friday night I am
I fight the law everyday, and by the end of the week, the law wins. So some Fridays are spent rejuvenating. Other times, I'm out for dinner with friends, and then (more often than not) out to some cocktail lounge.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I lived with a major presidential candidate's son for a year.

I'm partly responsible for the show Ancient Aliens being on TV.
