Well I suppose I largely define myself by what I'm passionate about. Those things include, but are not limited to:
-The environment and the wonderful creatures that inhabit it
-Social Justice-y things
-Art of any form
-Being hopelessly idealistic
-Filling my head with factoids and notions about the way the world works
I can be hard to get to know, not because I don't want you to learn about me, but because I tend to be somewhat on the shy side when we first meet. Get to know me a little and I'm a real goof.
I am sapiosexual to the max. Being willing to philosophize over a beer with me is kind of a must.
I love being active. I run and have been recently getting into spinning poi and hoop dancing, although I'm extremely new to both. Still recovering from a childhood full of klutziness.
At the moment I'm a student, currently working towards my degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology. My great loves are ecology and environmental justice issues.
My thesis is taking up a lot of my time these days. Just to ward off the inevitable question, I'm writing about eco-terrorism, 9/11, the U.S.A. Patriot Act, and other such light-hearted things. I can explain that in more detail if I must, but depending on the day I may throttle you if you ask.
I also try to keep that whole "balance" thing going while I try to finish up college. Sometimes I'm successful at it. I draw and dabble in printmaking, although the latter was once upon a time really. I also knit ferociously. I tend to be rather fidgety; why not do something with my hands that makes warm, beautiful things!
Um, I suppose that's it then. I enjoy buying books that I would really love to read, then feeling badly because I never seem to have enough time to read for pleasure. Oh well.
Starting and never finishing short stories.
Stressing out over nothing.
Baking. It helps with the stress.
Erm....I'm fairly okay at cooking. Really good might be an overstatement. Over-salting is my downfall.
- Anything by Michael Pollan
- Doors of Perception
- Any urban gardening books I can get my hands on
- Into the Wild
- Donnie Darko
- Garden State
- The Indiana Jones movies. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my fave.
- Veronica Mars
- Pretty Lights
- Death Cab for Cutie
- Freelance Whales
Other than Mexican- leftover scramble is the way to go.
1) Good conversation
3) Delicious food, made with love
4) People to share these things with
That's all I've got. Perhaps I'll think of more.
Now here's one thing I think OKC should add. Six things I could do without:
2) Gender/sexuality norms
4) People who are mean for no reason
5) "Things people are supposed to do with their lives"
6) The notion that people must be happy all the time. Feel your feelings, folks!
My next knitting project. I have knitting ADHD, un-diagnosed. It's an issue.
The fact that some days I want to surround myself with people of all types and hug the world, and other days I want to sit in my apartment by myself and read novels all day. It's all good.
Other things too, I'm sure.
1) At a show
2) Knitting while reading
3) Being a space pilot
4) Drawing silly things
5) Wandering around Eugene
One of these is a lie. Choose carefully.
Fair warning: I'm not looking for a romantic thing necessarily, just whatever happens organically.
