I am Musical, Affable, and Geeky.
My Self-Summary
Due to the fact that my profile comes off as "mysterious", I've
decided to revamp things just a tad. By a tad I mean, retyping it
all in the form of a novel about yours truly. That sounds fun
doesn't it?
Firstly, I admit it. I am a slave to the
internet. While I don't browse through
sites such as these very frequently, I do find myself frequenting
many different forums relating to technology and science.
Science and
Technology completely
and utterly fascinate me. Without those, I'd be a sad man.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a total
nerd! I have been sifting through the art
of
music since the
ripe old age of nine. My parents were both musically inclined so it
was only natural for me to share that interest. On the same note; I
absolutely love music. I listen to music constantly. I enjoy nearly
every genre of music, save rap and other similar genres. I couldn't
really choose a favorite genre. I find myself, mostly, listening to
Rock,
Alternative, and
Indie.
What instruments do I play you ask? I excel the most in
Guitar but I also play
Bass,
Drums, and
Piano. I also
sing. It's amazing how things tend to work
out. At the age of nine, my father started teaching me how to play
the guitar. I started learning very quickly and enjoyed it
tremendously. I also started singing around the same time. I never
particularly enjoyed singing. I primarily liked to play the
guitar. Once my
voice changed, it seemed like things completely went in opposite
directions. Now, I spend the largest portion of my time singing and
the
guitar seems to
be cooking on the back burner.
Enough about that. Let's talk about
grammar. If you've made it this far,
without pulling your hair out, you'll know that I have a chronic
condition. It's called "
Comma overuse...ism". Very few people
suffer from such a condition, since most people don't even know
that
commas exist.
If I'm typing a sentence, that contains more than 3-5 words, I tend
to always use
commas. Why? I honestly could not tell
you. It just feels right. I've not had complaints about difficulty
reading what I type... so we'll just assume that it's not so
"chronic" after all.
What else is there to say about myself? I do enjoy
video games. There, I admit it.
I don't really play them very frequently but the inticracies of the
technology involved intrigues me. I'd say that, in an average week,
I might spend 2-4 hours on
video games. Honestly, I spend most
of my time "nerding out" and reading
wikipedia about the history of the
gaming company or the hardware in certain consoles. Will it ever
help me in the real world? I sure wish.
In the long run, I'm not nearly as outgoing as I used to be. I
can't really say why I'm not very outgoing anymore, but I certainly
try to be... on occasion. I really do enjoy meeting new people. I
usually seem to put my foot in my mouth; so to speak. Once I get to
know some one, it's a different story. "The gloves are off" comes
to mind in that scenario.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently I'm in the process of furthering my education. I took a
year off from college for the purpose of working a contract
position in Columbus, OH. I am still technically living in
Lexington though. My contract position ended in October so I'm just
killing time until I start school again in Fall 2010.
I’m really good at
I tend to learn things rather quickly. This helps out in, both,
technology and music. I can learn, to sing and play, most songs
after hearing them two or three times. I'm also a very efficient
problem solver. I love puzzles... no not jigsaw puzzles. I guess I
should say "brain teasers" instead.
I'm, however, not very good at bragging on myself. That's a subject
that I try my best to stray far away from.
The first things people usually notice about me
Honestly, from a physical standpoint, I couldn't tell you. I
sometimes wonder if people even notice me at all, from that point
of view.
As far as personality is concerned, I guess people would usually
notice the fact that I avoid confrontation at all costs. Even if I
know that the opposing person is completely incorrect, I will not
usually argue. I'm a very cool headed person in that respect. It
really takes a lot to light my fuse. I don't think I have a fuse
truthfully.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I tend to only read technical books. I'm sure that I could rattle
off a long list of my favorite technical books, but I won't bore
you with that atrocity.
I love any and every horror movie known to man. I've recently
really gotten into the George A. Romero Zombie flicks. The
underlying political messages are very alluring. Politics are a
subject that I tend to stray away from as much as possible, but
it's always interesting to learn more about them.
I also really enjoy movies that make you think. You know the type
that I'm talking about. You watch the whole movie then, at the end,
the plot unfolds and you sit there thinking "what in the hell just
happened here?!" I watch movies, like that, over and over until I
understand them. I refuse to read the explanations of others from
the internet. That just ruins it.
As I said earlier, I love nearly ever genre of music. I primarily
listen to Rock, Alternative, and Indie. I can't really say what my
favorite bands or artists are because they change on a day to day
basis. I go through phases where I will like one band. Once that
phase subsides, I switch to another. It's, pretty much, and endless
cycle. For now I will say that I've been listening to a new band,
from Canada I believe, called "State of Shock". If you get a
chance, listen to "Money Honey" by them. It's a very catch and
simple song.
The six things I could never do without
Music, Technology, The Internet (which wouldn't exist without
Technology), Friends, Family, My Guitar
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I swear, I'm like a broken record. I spend a large portion of my
time thinking about Technology. I also spend a lot of my time
trying to come up with genius inventions that would make the world
run in a much more smooth manner. Oh wait... I guess that's
technology too. Well, I guess it could be a "good will toward man"
kind of thing... Yeah, we'll go with that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Nearly every Friday or Saturday night I am playing with my current
band. We perform live shows all around the central Kentucky region.
It's a good way to make some extra money and it's also quite fun.
The only down side is that I rarely get to spend a weekend relaxing
or spending time with friends. You know; Normal people stuff.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have entirely too many nerdy qualities. But that's what makes me
who I am. I usually try my best to mask the inner nerd, but I guess
it just shines itself when someone starts talking about their new
Bluray player, cell phone, or computer.
You should message me if
If you're bored and are up for a chat, feel free to toss me a
message. Conversation is something that I am always up for.
