My Notes edit
My self-summary
People tend to say I'm practical and logical. I don't see the point in gifts of flowers, I don't do small talk. I get bored if a conversation doesn't have some sort of purpose/meaning to it. 'What's up?' will only get you the sky, or possibly the ceiling.
I'm generally comfortable in shorts/jeans and a t-shirt, although Oxford has been getting me more used to wearing suits and gowns and other posh clothing items.
What I don't want:
Smokers. Sorry, it just makes me want to leave the room.
What I'm doing with my life
Other than studying I write software for various people, and read a whole load of books.
I also fix people's computers, I'm the local go-to guy for that sort of problem.
I'm really good at
Things I'm actually good at though:
Music, in the form of Piano & Percussion
Orienteering, at least compared to any other sports I do
Computer stuff in general
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
Or more usefully, the first interesting thing people notice about me is that I'm generally doing *something*. It's rare that I'll sit somewhere and just do nothing, at the very least I'll have a Sudoku puzzle or something.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Crime novels, Comedy and Romance.
Some of the authors I can see more prominently on my shelves are Garth Nix, E. E. Doc' Smith, Isaac Asmiov, H. G. Wells, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card, Robert Heinlein.
A particular favorite, I keep re-reading parts of Yes Minister, and Yes Prime Minister
I also read a whole load of stuff by smaller authors published online.
Movies, what I've listed above + Thrillers, and things with many explosions. Special Effects are cool.
Music, whatever's on the radio. I've got stuff like Green Day, Razorlight, Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, McFly, The Beatles on my laptop at the moment.
Food, has to be Ice Cream. Preferably Mint or Chocolate. Various sweets also make a regular appearance.
The six things I could never do without
Assuming basic living, and any prerequisites and so on:
1) Computer/Internet
2) Thought. Even when things are at their worst, you can plan, think of ways out, escape into your dreams. I couldn't live with being mentally handicapped.
3) Someone to talk to. Even if I hated them, it's better than being stuck on your own.
4) I'll come back to this I think.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Recurring thoughts:
Pick some new piece of technology, physics etc. How would the world change?
Or for a variant, I have a new piece of technology. How could I change the world to be a better place?
On a typical Friday night I am
Or if I feel less sociable, deep into a book, or on the internet.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
You should message me if
You know how to properly use the English language.
You respect people's opinions, and philosophical discourse.
You're passionate about something. I'm interested in many things, and I'll probably enjoy a conversation about something new.
I'm actively looking for a relationship, but I'm also looking for platonic friends. If you fit into either category, and are interested in me, feel free.
