My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey, I'm Lex - musician, artist, socialist, and general political enthusiast.

At any given moment you'll probably find me in fishnets and platform boots, getting really excited about foreign policy or Hannah Arendt.

I also play guitar, bass, piano, and bouzouki. I've got a band, in which I play guitar and write lyrics.

I make way too much eye contact. I think it makes people uncomfortable, but I never notice. Maybe it's my way of weeding out the weak?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Being really indecisive about my major. Currently majoring in economics, though. I go to NYU.

I also model and do photography, and play music. I also give little economics and politics lectures at public schools sometimes.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I guess I've mentioned most of the things I'm competent at already, but I also used to do roller derby when I lived in LA. I was pretty decent.
Oh, and dyeing my hair... this took a lot of practice though. I have accidentally dyed my skin blue before an important interview.

I know a lot about constitutional law. Like way too much about constitutional law.
I was also a debater in high school so I'm pretty good at arguing.

Movies:
Fight Club, Saw, The Shining, Sicko, Memento, 500 Days of Summer, 8 Mile, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, A Beautiful Mind, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I also watch a TON of documentaries.

Books:
Anything and everything by Chuck Palahniuk. Fight Club, Survivor, Invisible Monsters, Choke, Lullaby, all of them.
Also: Freakonomics, Battle Royale, Ender's Game, Just and Unjust Wars, Poverty & Power, and The Post-American World. I read a ton of magazines/periodicals too, including Foreign Affairs, The Atlantic, Newsweek, The Economist, Der Spiegel, Al Jazeera, Wall Street Journal, Russia Today, etc.
I also have a deep fondness for reading philosophy - my angsty teen self had a big existentialist phase so I'm very familiar with Camus, Sartre, etc, though I've also read all the classics (Kant, Mill, etc) and the more modern (Zizek, Arendt, etc).

Shows: I don't really watch TV, but I like the Daily Show and Orange is the New Black. I also am obsessed with Fareed Zakaria so I watch GPS when I get the chance.

Music:
Including but definitely not limited to:
Empires, Misfits, Say Anything, Fall Out Boy, Van Halen, Daughter, The Young Veins, Black Flag, Tallhart, Bright Eyes, The Clash, The Killers, JJAMZ, Violent Soho, Circa Survive, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Like, The Horrors, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, Regina Spektor.
(Since I've gotten a ridiculous amount of messages about it... do not make fun of me for my music taste!! It is not charming and you will not get a response!)

Food:
I really like bread.
I have always had a deep fondness for seafood but I am an ethical vegan and only deviate from it incredibly rarely (maybe once a year while on vacation).
If you can cook really good vegan food, I'll probably fall in love with you.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. white cheddar popcorn
2. liquid eyeliner
3. 0.3 fine tip pens
4. pink lemonade vodka
5. 1000+ pages of Freud's collected works to refer to at any time
6. online forums that exist for the sole purpose of bashing Rupert Murdoch
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
guitar riffs, attractive people, what color to dye my hair next, concerts, books, the Real, politics, clever things to write on my okcupid profile
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Well it depends... activities include dancing, drinking, guitar, studying law, reading, researching, writing music, sketching... I don't know. It's always different.

I used to go to a LOT of concerts back when I lived in LA, but not as much now, though I'd love to start doing it again.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been to jail overnight twice: once for involvement in a protest, and once for using a fake ID to buy vodka.
I obviously live life on the edge...
