My self-summary
I've started seeing someone I met here on OKC so off the market. But I hope the gods of dating smile on you all.

I'm from a modest background, loved academia and became a researcher in computers for many years till one of my side projects with a friend grew into a real company. Since they I've been involved in several technology based start-up companies often spending as much time on the business/management side as on the technology.

I've an old fashioned sense of manners copied from the Jeeves and Wooster books I loved reading as a child. I may open a door for a woman but I've also partnered with women in creating companies.

I sometimes, half jokingly, describe myself as an "uber geek" as there isn't much I've not done with computers and related technology. But its what I do and not who am I.

Slightly socially phobic. Good one-on-one or small groups. But parties I do rarely.

Love to travel when I can. Even if its just a long weekend to one of my favourite cities: Paris, Rome, or New York. For a longer holiday its a much harder choice. Of the places I've been to Japan was amazing, but so was Malaysia and Hawaii and there are so many places yet unseen.

Love to go clothes shopping with my special someone. Big stores, little boutiques, designer labels or names no one has yet heard of.

Although I get on well with kids I've never wanted any of my own.

Don't take part or follow sports. I keep in shape, enjoy long walks, even cycle when the weather is good.

Sexually I'm dominant but nothing extreme so if you don't enjoy being handcuffed in bed then I'll say goodbye now and wish you well in your search. Please note that doesn't mean I'm just here for sex. I'm here to find someone to spend my life with.

PS: Since I've been asked yes that really is a recent picture of me! I could claim clean living and plenty of exercise (both of which I do try to do) but I'm sure lucky genetics plays its part too.
What I’m doing with my life
I work too hard... Maybe I'm compensating for being single... God I hope so! Would much rather spend the evening curled up in bed with my special someone chatting about our days than designing complex software systems.

I've thought from time to time about moving to the US. Several friends have and I've always enjoyed my visits to the West Coast. Work takes me there often of late and it might be I end up there with my current startup.
I’m really good at
Outside of work..
Listening.
Planning holidays.
Hugs.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes - they are kind. Helps people open up and talk to me about their lives - fortunately I like to listen.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
At the cinema I love romantic comedies, science fiction, action adventure and horror. Used to love musicals (which are bascally just rom' com's set to music) but they stopped making good ones about when Gene Kelly hung up his tap shoes. As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson is probably my favourite film.

When relaxing (or on the tube) I pretty much always have a book in hand... these days an ebook on my phone. Usually science fiction or horror. I'm currently re-reading all of the Foundation stories which I loved as a child. Favourite authors are Stephen King, Orson Scott Card.

Music: I was never really into music. I know that sounds strange to a lot of people but I grew up with a TV always on. So I tend to fill the silences in my flat with "moving wallpaper". However I love musicals. Hooked on Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers as a child. At the theatre seen Mama Mia, Jersey Boys amongst many others.

Food: Love Italian and Thai. Sometimes French. A good steak is a great treat (although hard to find in London). I should mention that I disklike cheese, like fish but not seafood, and I don't drink alcohol (slighly alergic).

I've an intellectual sense of humour. If you know UK television I enjoy "Have I Got News For You" and reruns of "Yes, Minister".

TV Programs: The Big Bang Theory, Bones, Castle, How I Met your Mother, New Girl, QI, Have I Got News For You, some sci-fi but there isn't a lot of good sci-fi around these days.
The six things I could never do without
A bed (for sleeping!), which reminds me:
sex,
a good book,
someone to chat with,
my smartphone. It organises me, is my library and research center
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I enjoy my work (mostly) so I'm often working on software systems in my head. I'm also fascinated by history in particular the history of religions so often thinking about that too.

Is my mobile phone really connecting to OKCupid behind my back!
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out with friends at a restaurant, film or vegging out after a hard week and recharging my batteries by watching some nonsense on TV
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hey! I've already admitted I'm sexually dominant thats got to count as pretty private!
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 35–57
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
Looking for a mutually supportive relationship based on trust and respect... with occasional tickles and silliness because if you can't laugh at life then you're doing it wrong!

I'm looking for someone who wants to share a life. Who looks to me when something happens just to tell me about it. Who want to tell me about their days and looks forward to hearing about mine. Who thinks holding hands in public with your special someone is natural.

I occasionally get contacted by people not living within "meeting distance". While its nice someone gets in touch I don't believe relationships can happen without being able to regularly meet up in person.

You believe in "chemistry" "sparks" "magic" call it what you will but its that special feeling that makes someone so much more than just a friend.
