Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
People usually describe me as friendly, good-natured, hard working
and say I have a big heart. Almost everyone likes me because I like
them. The few people who don't like me usually don't like anyone. I
am not into judging because life is too short for being
critical-except when it is absolutely necessary. I prefer listening
I have the best job in the world and terrific friends. But I am
looking for someone special to share thoughts, adventures and the
simple things with. I am home and hearth oriented and looking for
someone who is the same. I am drama and baggage free. However, I
don't mind if you aren't. I like single mothers because I think
they are very brave. But I also like women without children.
The thing I like most-besides my job and the people I care about-is
learning and reading. I like intellectual stuff like philosophy and
history and I prefer literature to spy thrillers and sports
biographies, etc... But I know that's just me. I'm not a snob,
because I watch Three's Company when it's on so I have no business
making fun of anyone else's pleasures.
I also like trying new things. I recently went to a Malaysian
restaurant because they had a chicken foot casserole on them menu
they said was not for Americans. They were right, but at least I
tried it. I am also planning to take up hiking.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am love my job. I am a community college instructor in a poor
community and I work with a very underprivileged population. It
brings me great joy to be able to help other people make their
lives better. I don't think there is anything I could do that I
would be more passionate about.
But I also enjoy all the committee work and writing manuals and the
rest because it gives me the chance to be creative. I am up for
tenure next year, so I am a little jumpy but still having a great
It sure beats being chained to a desk from 9-5!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening to people, and being listened to. I am also very
intellectually curious and good at figuring things out and
explaining them clearly-once I figure them out. I am always reading
4 books at the same time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My sense of humor and my smile. Also, many women have told me that
I have a lot of "female values." I'm not sure what that means, but
they meant it as a compliment. Almost all my close friends have

I have so many books I have greatly enjoyed. I guess my very
favorite writers are Tolstoy and Jane Austen. I'm also trying to
dig into W.Vo.Quine. He's one of the big philosophers of the
twentieth century and his work is fascinating. I also always have
one book going I call the two page a day book. I read to pages a
day because they are a little dull but worthwhile. That's how I got
through Ulysses and Gravity's Rainbow. Right now, my two page a day
book is Tristes Tropiques.
I really don't like when people say their taste in music is
eclectic, but I guess that cliche really is me. I love rock (Sonic
Youth, Led Zeppelin, etc...), Jazz (Coltrane, Miles and Co.) and
many other types. Basically, since my parents first gave me an
allowance when I was eleven I have looked for new musical kicks to
the great delight of U-Haul where I have my storage locker. The
first album I bought was Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
because Jodie Foster recommended it to me (that's actually true).
The most recent CD I bought is the new Lily Allen.
My favorite food is pizza. I highly recommend, when you are in the
supermarket, that you pick up Tree Tavern frozen pizza.
My favorite movie is Ghost World--not a horror movie! But I have to
admit that, although I really don't care for Star Trek or science
fiction (corny), when I am down, I like to watch Star Trek 4. I
love watching those guys running around in hairpieces acting
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I could never do without a CD player, books, coke zero, sleep,
someone to talk to and a job. Even if I were rich, I would want to
do something for which I needed to get up in the morning. I think.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about epistemological issues. I am
concerned with the limits of human knowledge. So many people walk
around saying they know things that are really unknowable. Or are
they? I think about it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
With friends, kicking back and enjoying good conversation. Or I am
working. I have to stop doing that!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Ask me later. I think a little mystery is good.

But most importantly, message me if you are not looking for a pen
pal. I am looking for the right person and the only way to really
know is to meet. No pressure. If there is chemistry, we will know
pretty quickly. If there isn't chemistry, I'm sure you are still
wonderful and I wish you luck finding the right man for you.
