I'm in my third (and last!) year of law school. I love
animals, but my main
passions are
politics and fighting for
human rights. I
can't have a conversation (or sex) with someone who's apathetic
about what's going on in the world. A friend/partner would also
have to be open to non-mainstream critiques of society, such as
being critical of the Democratic party. I can date people who vote
for Democrats, but I'm looking for someone who is open to
critiques. I guess you could say I have the fervor of the recently
converted since I learned the history of how the Democratic Party
has been the graveyard of social movements [if that statement
deeply offends you, you won't be interested in coffee with me -
fair warning].
I am fiercely
pro-choice (and I don't shrink from
the original term
pro-abortion) and here's some
more of my political stances:
against racism in all its forms
against the prison-industrial complex and police brutality
against the huge class divide
against the illegal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan
PRO
Palestinian rights, including
the right of return to the occupied territory now called
"Israel"
PRO immigrants' rights
Gender Equality
Marriage Equality and other LGBT rights
I've been active in raising awareness about sexual violence against
women and am disgusted by the silence on the high rape and domestic
violence rates in this country.
Basically, I'm totally down with a world without borders, the
liberation of all people, and an end to oppression in all its
forms.
Oh and I make strange, cute noises. I seem outgoing, but I'm
actually more self-conscious than I let on but I'm working on
it.
I don't take myself very seriously and you shouldn't either. Unless
you're a rabid right-winger, you'll enjoy talking to me and I'll
probably make you feel very special for at least half an hour.
<--That doesn't necessarily mean anything sexual.
I love
insects and
spiders but it's
cool if you don't. I have two arachnid pets but would love to adopt
some small mammal companion, like a rat, guinea pig, or rabbit (no
dogs allowed in my apt. and I'm a law student).
I'm
vegetarian,
but not a jerk about it. I'm slowly trying to become vegan since I
watched the movie
Peaceable Kingdom in
animal law and I figure
I'm halfway there already because of my lethal
egg allergy.
I love
movies and
reading. My favorite authors include
Margaret Atwood,
Barbara
Kingsolver, and
Douglas Adams.
I love transgendered people and cross-dressers.
Listening to people. Debating right-wingers. Being creative.
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Communist Manifesto by
Marx and Engels
The Democrats: A Critical History by Lance Selfa
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
and so many more...
Movies: Nightmare Before Christmas, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko,
etc.
Music: classic rock, 80s music,
PINK FLOYD, other stuff, but I'm
growing weary of writing this profile
food: pasta, lentil soup, sushi, ice cream, Uncle Eddie's vegan
soft-baked cookies
Editors
saving the world, public defense, self-determination of the working
class, building a leftist alternative to the two-party system
Either studying, writing a paper (blecch), or chilling with friends
decompressing from the week. It depends on the time in the
semester.
I'm scared of papercuts, dude-bros, and dolls.
You have left-leaning politics, want to see the world improved, and
would like to snuggle/get
coffee with someone who feels the same
way.
You answered NO to the question: Should a woman be required to
inform the father of her baby (read fetus) before getting an
abortion? I don't want to hear anything about circumstances or
property interests in sperm. Her body, end of story.
I don't have sex with right-wingers. Don't even ask.
