I am bitter, cynical, and happy about that.

My Self-Summary

Here is what I dislike: People who answer the question "what type of music do you like?" with "oh anything from Abba to ZZ Top" or any variation thereof.
It's not just the clever-clever smarmyness that grates with me but mainly the suggestion that the guilty person enjoys Any artist/group whose name falls alphabetically between Abba and ZZ Top. Considering that this includes the likes of Pig Destroyer, Shitmat, Joe Fucking Dolce etc, makes it very hard for me to believe that anybody is that open-minded in regards to musical taste. What they should actually say is "oh, you know, anything played on *insert name of generic rock radio station here*".

I realise this makes me sound like a petty, mean spirited person but perhaps that best sums me up?

Petty and mean spirited and completely unable to paint myself in a favourable light in the 'about me' sections of websites such as this.

What I’m doing with my life

'Wasting it' is the short answer. And the long answer isn't interesting enough to recount here.

I have lots of big plans that never get past the planning stage. In fact, they never even make it To the planning stage. And to be honest they're not really all that big. They are medium-sized barely-plans and I can't even make those work.

What I'm doing is slowly coming to terms with the fact that I'm not actually good enough at anything to excel in life and that I lack motivation and intent and maybe when I have accepted that I will blossom into a butterfly or something?

I’m really good at

Videogames. Mainly due to a childhood where I shunned social interaction in favour of sitting in my bedroom pretending to be elfen adventurers or plump Itallian plumbers.

I realise this is not a Good Thing.

The first things people usually notice about me

I am not other people and I have never bothered to ask so my answer to this question would only be guesswork. And I get the feeling you only want Cold Hard Facts. So I will graciously decline to reply.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - any that involve boys/girls getting their hearts broken (I'm looking at the likes of Raymond Carver and Richard Yates here), any comic books that involve boys/girls getting their hearts broken (I'm looking at Jeffrey Brown). I love The Boy Detective Fails by Joe Meno and most work by Denis Johnson. Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Ivan Brunetti, and James Kochalka also make me happy.

Movies - lots of trashy horror films and particularly trashy horror films that involve zombies. I love pretty much all of the Pixar films (and if you put a gun to my head I'd pick Monsters Inc as my favourite. But why the hell are you putting a gun to head?! Jeez.. it's only animated films). My favourite David Lynch film is The Straight Story. That seems important. I'd say the film I have watched the most is probably Battle Royale.

Music - mostly 80's indie pop and 90's shoegaze. I adore The Field Mice. I think quite a lot of Darren Hayman too.

Food - well I'm vegetarian so just as long as it is not meat then it stands a pretty good chance.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Ideas for graphic novels. I have one that I think would actually be pretty good but, tragically, I am easily distracted and so pretty quickly stop thinking about it and instead ponder snow cones or the inexplicable popularity of Al Murray.

You should message me if

you ever feel like chatting nonsense/about music/about films/about comic books/about videogames/etc.

Or alternatively if you want somebody 'disappearing' for cheap rates.

Or, you know, not. Obviously.
