My self-summary
Hi, I'm Martin.

When I'm living day-to-day I like to explore and enjoy Oxford - cinemas, bars, pubs, and the fantastic restaurants, though I'm often found in London too.

Work is on my own start-up company for 10 months of the year, and for two months people actually pay me to take them on motorbike adventures. Last year to Tashkent, the year before Bahrain, and so on. Africa, Europe, Mongolia etc all from London.

I am also one of only a handful of people to ever complete the Mongol Rally by motorbike.

I know nothing about football so prefer to spend my Saturdays out and about.
What I’m doing with my life
I exited a start-up software company that was acquired in February, and I'm now on my way to having my own business.

I like to explore the world as much as I can. I've visited ~70 countries so far, and am planning to 'complete' Europe by July. I'll take a road trip over a flight every time.

I love two wheels, and have a bicycle for getting muddy and one for road work. I took part in the Dunwich Dynamo, worth a look if you're in London and like a challenge.

My friends say I'm 'living the dream', perhaps one day!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at map reading.
I'm really good at practical problem solving.
I know how to spell and use full English in text messages.
I make popcorn in a pan and my BBQs are legendary (for good reasons!).
The first things people usually notice about me
It's my smile, then my Oxford accent?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Apprentice and Dragon's Den (my line of work now!)
Reruns of Who's Line Is It Anyway / Alan Partridge / The Office (US, not so much UK) / Flight of the Conchords / Peep Show.
The six things I could never do without
Well this is funny because for months on end I live out of just a bag (adventures).
- Some adventure to look forward to and plan
- Some idea of what I'll be doing work wise in a year (inc actively not working)
- Clean socks
- Some way of getting clean
- Enough money for a decent meal and a good place to stay should I want it
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I daydream! Where I can travel to, who with, what to do when I'm there, how I can meet along the way, how can I somehow get my company to pay for it!
On a typical Friday night I am
One of a few things
- opening up another pack of crisps to share on the pub table
- queuing for another Mohito
- clearing the islands of Just Cause 2 of military forces
- catching up with bikers at a late-night cafe
- On the road to somewhere for the weekend - like Wales!
