I am empathetic, energetic, and happy.
My Self-Summary
I was married only once for 38 years and have been a widow for five
years. My father was a West Point grad and career army officer so I
traveled a lot growing up. We also lived in Germany, Turkey, and
Viet Nam in addition to many locations within the US. I am
passionate about being politically liberal and about my love for
animals and every living thing on this planet. I have two sons, two
daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. They and my friends
(human and others) are my greatest joy. I would love to find a
dance partner and someone with whom I can share the joys of life. I
am most comfortable with people who are more highly educated and
intelligent than I am. I enjoy living alone and appreciate having
enough of my own space. There are worse things than not having a
partner with whom to share my life and one is settling for a
partner who doesn't share my core values.
What I’m doing with my life
I studied and practiced art (mostly drawing and sculpture) during
most of my life before marriage. My creative outlet since then has
been designing, building, decorating, and organizing homes for
myself and friends and family. I love transforming the drab into
the beautiful. I am an avid reader and am writing a book about my
late husband. I spend as much of the summer as possible at the
beach in San Diego where I love every kind of water sport,
especially boogie boarding with my grandchildren. During the
winter, I am usually doing remodeling projects around my home and
the homes of family and friends. I am grateful for the life I've
lived thus far, that I am healthy and financially independent, that
I have a loving family of which I am very proud, and that I have so
many true friends.
I’m really good at
cutting in without using painters' tape; writing; making others
laugh or forget their woes at least for a while; skip trowel wall
texturing; organizing everything.
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I am honest in an open, direct manner.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My favorite books are mostly history, ancient religion, spiritual,
and mysteries. After reading "The Instruction" by Ainslee MacLeod,
which is about the evolution of the soul, I have been reading all
of Brian Weiss's books about reincarnation (which is included in
every religion including Christianity until Constantine deleted
most of it from the Bible - he forgot to eliminate Jesus's
reference to John the Baptist as the reincarnation of
Elijah).
I like movies that entertain, evoke all human emotions, and have a
message (and preferably ones that don't have sad endings).
My favorite classical music is Johann Strauss waltzes (especially
the Blue Danube), 60's Rock and Roll, Mancini, Carly Simon, blues
(my favorite dance is the West Coast Swing) and anything that isn't
rap or country.
I'm losing my taste for meat and have learned (thanks to a
vegetarian friend) to make delicious tofu dishes. But I still love
French sauces, especially with Cajun seafood.
The six things I could never do without
are my family, animals, friends, music, the colorful beauty of
nature, and the ocean.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the environment, universal health care, and the economy. I am a
socialist and I believe that organized religion has been the bane
of humanity throughout history.
On a typical Friday night I am
usually reading, writing, or playing games on my computer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
is that I am quickly become bored with people who are not more
educated and intelligent than I am. I think wit is the highest form
of intelligence and other forms of humor, especially slapstick or
crude, don't amuse me.
You should message me if
you are politically progressive, empathetic, and can enjoy some
activities apart from your partner. If you like to dance or are
willing to learn, that would be a great bonus!
