My self-summary
I believe in surviving life with a good sense of humor; it might be the only way to honestly enjoy life. A measure of levity should always be present; no one has ever benefited from being too serious. I don't even try to be serious, as a precaution.

I'm pretty nerdy - it pays the bills, you know. I guess you could also categorize me as a "homebody"--but it was more "too exhausted to think". I'm recovering from working at a life-consuming tech start-up so now that I have free time, I'm picking up some activities like Swing dance, forcing myself to go to the gym, and others. I'm going to pick archery back up (after a 20 year break) in Spring. I want to get back into hiking and martial arts as well.
What I’m doing with my life
I recently landed a job with a large, multifaceted organization and am trying to figure out these bewildering "office politics" while furthering my skills, having fun, and not getting fired.

This new job compressed all my vacation time into a check, so I've had to put my travel plans on hold--but I have some fixed plans to head back to Europe in the next year and half. I also want to head back to The Virgin Islands.
I’m really good at
Being shy and awkward at first--and every once and a while after you get to know me, just to keep you on your toes. Also cuddling, massages, looking off into the distance, making sci-fi references at questionable times.

ALSO: Problem-solving, relating, functioning in complete disarray.
The first things people usually notice about me
My curly hair and glasses; how ADHD I am. I really can't sit still.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Catch-22, by far and always but Hitchhiker's Guide is a close second. I prefer comedic stories about how completely insane things can be, because...well, look around; things are completely insane. Piers Anthony is one of my favorite authors...among others are Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, and Joseph Heller.

Movies: Fanny och Alexander, Breakfast Club, Quills, Boondock Saints, But I'm a Cheerleader, Taxi Driver, Requiem for a Dream, Tank Girl, Barton Fink, most Leslie Neilson movies, and any Sci-fi epic, documentaries...

Music: pretty much anything. I usually listen to music at work, when working out, and when walking around . I think listing a bunch of bands out is kinda dumb, sorry.

Food: Italian and Thai: my body is probably about 80% pasta.
I'm vegetarian and have been since birth--except for the occasional and accidental pepperoni hiding in cheese pizza.
The six things I could never do without
1. A Sense of Humor.
2. Internet-connected devices.
3. Diet soda (even though it slowly kills me). I am striving to replace this with beer.
4. Perspective.
5. Imagination.
6. Hope for the Human Race....more of a wishlist-type item :/
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How much how you think about something influences 'reality'.

"...the problem is your attitude about the problem." - Captain Jack Sparrow.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm pretty tame at this point in life. I don't drink that often anymore and have lost the stomach for it. I tried to be a wino when I hit 30, but kept forgetting to buy wine. On most Fridays, I head to Laughing Planet or a McMenamins to meet friends then we usually nerd out.
Definitely not a 'club'-type person.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was a kid, I used to have a sweet fireman's hat (complete with siren noise and rotating light). In the day, I was known to wear nothing but that hat.

My Portland Sins:
1. I don't own a bike.
2. I'm not very cool.
3. I don't have vinyl records.
4. I don't have tight pants.

You're a nerd or nerd-curious. It's OK. We're nice.

You're a nonsmoker, or at least very rarely smoke. It's gross, and bad for you. Only choose activities that are one or the other.
