My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Ever since a young age I have pushed myself to achieve everything I set my mind to, however I grew up with barriers that allowed me to have a deeper gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful opportunities life afforded me. These adversities gave me a zest and love for life and a compassion for others I don't think I would have developed if it was not for my obstacles. I was also fortunate to have a support system that taught me how to have a voracious love for life no matter the circumstances. I sincerely believe we choose a life of hurdles that we know we can handle and once I realized that the greatest love I can find is within myself, I can now look for a compassionate bashert who can compliment that love. If I still have your attention, the rest of this profile will make you fall in love...

Every day I live life to the fullest. I look for extraordinary in the ordinary. I believe that wherever I am in life, it’s perfect and there is an opportunity to share something remarkable. I live in the moment, I enjoy the spontaneity of life, and I cherish the friendships I have made along the way. I am inspired by so many of the stories people share because everyone has something significant to contribute to this world.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I wake up each morning knowing that today is going to be the best day ever and I know that I will positively impact the lives of those around me.

I came to NYC for School Counseling because I had a desire to change the lives of children, particularly in inner cities. I strongly subscribe to the ideas of James Garbarino who teaches us how as educators we have the rare gift of being a positive influence in children's lives or what he calls a protective factor because we give them the tools they need to believe in their dreams! I took that passion for supporting others and now I help people going through Hepatitis-C therapy make sure they have every service and support they need while going through treatment.

My new found love is meditating every day, listening to empowering TED talks, and throwing parties in my apartment because I love cooking for people and entertaining! I have a strong yoga/cardio strength training practice, love swimming, taking Jewish classes, and going to synagogue. I stay active in social activities, live music, and constantly stay connected to a large network of friends I have made in my travels across the globe. I have never bought a video game, I have no patience for watching tv, and listen to NPR everyday. I have enjoyed journaling since I was 18 and I am finally writing a memoir.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have a strong drive to learn new things and taking that knowledge to teach others, especially children.

I have worked really hard at finding space to allow myself to be vulnerable. I think it is important for men to be able to share their vulnerability even though society teaches males to show emotional control. To quote Berne Brown “You show me a woman who can actually sit with a man in real vulnerability”.

Even though I have fallen in love with the city, I am a nature junkie who loves to garden. Give me a plot of land, a shovel, the compost we have saved throughout the year, and some seeds, and I'll make sure we have enough food to last us into the winter.

I am also really good at laughing, especially making myself laugh. I have a really good memory for things and so as I walk down the street of NYC letting the mind race through events of the week and life, I find I crack myself up all the time. About once a day the memory is so funny it makes me laugh out loud! Love those moments!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I searched for the word AIDS on OKCupid and I Only found a woman who did not like wearing band-aids. I typed in HIV and Only found a woman who has a job providing shelter for the homeless. This tells me that we have a long way to go before those in our community living with HIV feel like they can share this vulnerability so openly. My drive in life is to create a world where men and women can shift their purpose in life from self to community and if I am to live by this creed, I too have to be vulnerable.

I was given HIV from a blood transfusion as an infant. A mission in life of mine is to destigmatize the fears others have associated with the virus. Since the age of 9 I have traveled around the country to give a voice to HIV and I maintain a lifestyle that will continue to keep me the healthiest individual living this virus! The work has been tremendously gratifying and at times a challenging voyage. This work has offered me a significant amount of public recognition and subsequently the inability to ever choose to be secretive about my status because the first Google search terms are a USA Today article about me or a PSA announcement I’ve done.

If the price for vulnerability is the ego is not as gratified because fewer women on this profile will write me than it was worth it!
