I am curious about all, open-minded, and adventure-driven.

My Self-Summary

Hello there! ...keeping my fingers crossed that this site extends the opportunity to meet all the more truly cool, open-minded, and genuine souls who are so darn hard to find.

Me? I'm always up for a real adventure (i.e., sold everything I owned to wander around the South Pacific for a year 'cause I realized there was no real reason to wait to do everything I wanted to do like everyone tells you you're supposed to), love trying anything new (i.e., I've eaten bugs as well as emu, croc, and roo), and make it my mission to enjoy every moment to the fullest (i.e., tend to break out a goofy dance or song spontaneously 'cause it's just damn fun). I love to smile and laugh (i.e., ALL the time!), and intelligent conversation REALLY turns me on (i.e., hearing about how often YOU go to the gym or hate your job/life/circumstance you choose not to change totally turns me off). :) I respect honesty in others above all else and am brazenly - and refreshingly - honest myself (i.e., it's just darn sad when someone feels the need to hide anything at all about themselves).

I keep a tight group of incredibly cool friends... who are, unfortunately, scattered throughout the globe (i.e., I use "friends" to refer to incredible people who may be far from me by any distance or time period and with whom I can instantly reconnect with by basic and very important qualities we share... everyone else is just an "acquaintance"). I'm an introvert with an extrovert's energy and sense of endless fun and am surprisingly spontaneous and outgoing when the mood strikes me. I welcome worthy excuses to take a break to explore something/somewhere new and live all the more fully... travel being my favorite pastime/lifestyle/passion of all! I grew up all over the world, love a fresh and new perspective, and Vegas is the latest spot I'm exploring...

-> P.S. I've just dated all my profile photos as a little bird told me you fellows like reassurance that a gal's pics are actually recent and reflect her current appearance. :) Amazing to realize how rare photos of myself are... I'm usually the one taking them of everyone and everything else!
-> P.S.S. I've also inserted weird quirky stuff about me everywhere 'cause a different little birdie told me that stuff reveals the most about who you really are. Enjoy! ;)

What I’m doing with my life

I've worked hard to achieve self-employment and really lavish complete freedom of schedule, work, play, lifestyle, environment, and cohorts thanks to the freelance lifestyle. I work when I'm inspired; I play when I need a break or just feel like taking advantage of my freedom to play whenever I darn well feel like it. :) Since leaving the corporate life and all that it entails, I tend to change direction as my own interests, motivations, and personal goals change. I live to learn, discover, and enjoy. I wouldn't even try to guess where I'll be or what I'll be doing in just one to two years from now... I really love being surprised by life.

I’m really good at

...my work, cooking, writing, amateur photography, laughing, being happy wherever I am and regardless of the situation, being surprisingly and spontaneously goofy, helping break down that cookie cutter stereotype of what women are supposed to be, being damn good at growing a business with no business degree, and embracing change.

The first things people usually notice about me

My long hair, my genuine smile, my excitement about life, perhaps my habit of driving around Vegas's 3-season long summer with the top off the Jeep Wrangler and wearing a bikini top to soak up all that glorious sunshine (after all, that's what I moved out here for!), that I'm filled with what you may perceive as contradictions which actually work darn well together to form one refreshingly cool, fun, inspiring, and unique person... and some other things you're probably already thinking and I won't waste time confirming for you. ;)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I'll read nearly anything and everything that offers new knowledge or inspiration (The Power of Now stands out as one of the most important books I've ever read, may ever read, and have integrated into my own life.); there's something to gain from it all... except maybe those dumb romance novels. Who reads that stuff?!? I've previously fallen in love with Dune, all of Isaac Asimov, all of Ayn Rand, Hamlet, and Fear of Flying. My most recent reads were Buddhism Plain & Simple, Paulo Coelho's The Witch of Portabello, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead (which made me tear up at the end when the "good person" managed to get through to the crazy masses). I'm currently in the middle of Susie Bright's The Sexual State of the Union.

Movies: I love every genre and pay particular attention to each movie my movie-buff brother highly recommends to me. I love stuff that makes me think, ponder my own identity or question my own beliefs, movies about those who go against the mainstream and realize what life is really all about... and movies that just make me laugh my ass off or scare the shit out of me. A quick list of some of my faves that stick out in my mind: The Boondock Saints, Hackers, The Princess Bride, everything Tarantino of course, The Spirit, The Watchmen, The Shining, Memento, Fight Club, The Acid House, Old Boy, Frailty, American Beauty, Run Lola Run, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Before Sunrise, Teeth, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Ice Pirates, Krull, The Game, Cruel Intentions... I like "guy" movies as much as "girlie" movies... I grew up being fed every military movie ever to exist. :)

*I'm also a Star Wars AND Star Trek fan. :)

Fave t.v.: Dexter!! Weeds, Californication, The Tudors, Big Love, True Blood, Nurse Jackie, Party Down, Top Chef, and Entourage

Music: I like it all! I really love oldies and classic rock and love the harder stuff but can't name anything specific. I make a point to catch what's created outside the US in addition to what's fed to our sheltered selves inside the country. I love lyrics that make me think or feel and rhythms that make me move. A quick list: Bright Eyes, Third Eye Blind, Damien Rice, The Streets, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Green Day, Everclear, Barenaked Ladies, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Alanis Morissette, Smashing Pumpkins, Powderfinger, Katchafire, Cracker, Counting Crows, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Coldplay, David Gray, Duran Duran, The Police, Fiction Plane, Michael Franti, Olive, Scooter, Radiohead, Simon and Garfunkel, Stereophonics, The Black Eyed Peas, The Offspring, The Cat Empire, The Guess Who, The Who, Three Dog Night, Travis, Turin Brakes, Van Morrison, Train, Wheatus...

Food: I love to eat and try it all! All the better if it's a cuisine or dish or insect or animal or plant I've never tried before. :)

The six things I could never do without

Off the top of my head... my computer, change/variety, good food, complete freedom, the ability to learn/evolve, and risk-taking.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

All the things on my to-do list... what highly involved meal I want to cook up for dinner... how to achieve all my changing goals in the most efficient and economical ways possible... the possibilities for my next trip or personal adventure... how to stay present and enjoy life all the more. Oh, and why there aren't more folks matching my own personality/attitude on OK Cupid. Seriously, WHERE are you guys?!?

On a typical Friday night I am

...forgetting it's actually the "weekend" again and a big deal for everyone that lives by the clock. Like any other night, I could be delving into some fun, new project on the computer, relaxing with a homemade gourmet meal and a few movies, or getting all dressed up to check out an event or gathering of interesting people that's completely new to me.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a black latex mini dress in my closet I have yet to have an occasion to wear. But doesn't every woman?

You should message me if

You're OPEN-MINDED... you're serious about what you want/need in life but not so serious about life itself... you're excited about life, upbeat, and positive... you know what you want and you've already obtained it or are actively pursuing it... you love to laugh, play, and get a little crazy now and then... and you're NOT looking for someone to fill a void in your own life. Come on, think hard about that one before immediately shouting "that's not me!" ;)
