I am empathetic, straightforward, and a good friend.

My Self-Summary

Don't like to do things "half-assed", but 2 a.m. is not my most inspired time of day; so the following is what it is...

I'm a bit of a health nut, not totally overboard though, and love learning anything new. Always reading several books concurrently. Dave Eggers and David Sedaris are two favorites, Updike and Roth are never fail and great re-reads as well. Sounds like a law firm; 'Eggers, Sedaris, Updike & Roth' , specializing in what? You tell me. (Oh okay, personal injury; get it?) Books on spirituality, photography, alternative medicine, nutrition, quantum physics (it's like magic!), raising kids. Anything about Edgar Cayce. Love Woody Allen movies, Dustin Hoffman, Dudley Moore.
More on that stuff later~

You are intelligent, kind, funny, and attractive to me. The less pretense you have, the more drawn I will be to you. (And you can't hide that, much as some try). You care about staying healthy and reasonably fit. You are young at heart, but not immature. My study group tells me I'm psychic; I say just very intuitive about people. A matter of degree perhaps. If you are a double agent or otherwise hiding something, I'll probably catch on quicker than most. So it would save us both time if you are basically of good character (we all have our faults) and straightforward about your life in general. I'm attracted to those who have a generally positive, upbeat attitude. I see the glass as half full, and if it just crashed to the floor and broke, my (and maybe your?) first reaction is "wow that could have cut my foot; that was lucky!" (We're in the kitchen barefoot, cooking together.) No my middle name is not Pollyanna. Also if you're a science geek, extra points. Alternatively, if your profile name has goofy innuendo such as any reference to '69' or such, don't waste our time. I'm a kid at heart, but as I said a certain level of maturity is expected. There's a time and a place, and a match for me won't have to have that pointed out.
Stay tuned....

What I’m doing with my life

Have a writing and editing business, don't think I'm allowed to put the website address here though. Am also raising my son by myself, trying to stay healthy, and working hard to make time for and keep connected to those who are important to me. I try to teach my child compassion so we give back to the community and various causes that speak to us.

I’m really good at

Listening, making conversation, making people laugh, seeing both sides of an issue (this one can drive me crazy; especially w/ politics), accents, never forgetting a voice, always forgetting names, being punctual, research, being resourceful, buying the perfect gift for someone, asking questions, sensing when something's bothering you, celebrating birthdays, knowing my shortcomings, knowing your shortcomings, taking pictures, keeping my word, off the cuff poetry/rhymes (my son loves that one), throwing parties, gratitude, being a true friend, knowing when my dog needs more attention, keeping an open mind (about most things, anyway), appreciating the wisdom of the elderly, missing my late cats, apologizing to my son when the mistake was mine.

The first things people usually notice about me

If I'm alone, my eyes or my smile. Or if we're together, my son and/or dog.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Too many books; though recently read 'How Starbucks Saved My Life'- highly recommended, esp. for you fast-trackers. David Sedaris' 'Naked' had me laughing outloud, which is quite a feat. Comedy movies Unfaithfully Yours w/ Dudley Moore, Mad Monster Party (Rankin/Bass animation), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Kicking and Screaming. Many more- I should look at my movies and add more faves here (later). Would have to give more thought to drama genre, too many great ones, sorry. Music 50s thru 70s; Italian food, Indian, Thai, Mexican, homemade chocolate chip cookies, warm brownies w/ cold ice cream, milk chocolate w/ nuts but dark chocolate w/fruit, buttered toast, Granny Smiths, watermelon, flagels (yes that's flagels, not bagels), peanut M&Ms, champagne, Heineken in bottle, distilled water.
