I am a nerdy, sincere, and modest man

I just moved to Austin from San Antonio last month! I'm excited to be here. Many of my oldest friends live here, and it's nice to only have to drive 15 or 20 minutes instead of 90 minutes to see them.

Software development at a local tech company pays the bills. In the time I have to myself, some personal software projects and my dog have most of my focus.

I try to travel out of the state or the country at least once or twice a year. Last year was Western Europe, and this year I will visit Washington D.C. Next year I'd like to visit Yosemite and the Redwood National Parks.

The future fascinates me, and I've always loved science fiction since I was little. Asteroid mining, solar photovoltaics, artificial intelligence, brain simulation, virtualized computing, brain-computer interfaces, lifespan-augmenting medicine -- these things have vast implications for our cultures and communities. It's a pretty exciting time to be alive.

My real name seems to be hard for people to pronounce at first. Some people seem to think that I am tall but I know lots of people who are much taller than I.

Favorite song ever is Johnny Cash's "The Man In Black".

Mostly I like stuff written by people like Pablo Neruda, Dylan Thomas, Carl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens, Isaac Asimov and Noam Chomsky. Poetry, science-fiction, non-fiction.

I'm really enjoying the latest Atoms for Peace album right now.

I really enjoyed Jiro Dreams of Sushi last year. And not just because I love sushi.

I like to cook, and I especially like seafood. Beef and vegetables in wine sauce is also nice. And tofu Thai dishes.

I spend most of my free time working on coding a little text-based multi-player game with a friend of mine. It takes up way too much of my time.
