My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm sincere, modest, and often serious -- but I love to laugh 'til I have to wipe tears out of my eyes.

I treat people with kindness.

Because life is tough and goes by fast.

I love to go on long road trips across the country and stay in random cities along the way.

I like driving down to the ocean, spending all day at the beach, and crashing out in a cheap hotel.

Writing choose your own adventure games is a pastime of mine.

I really enjoy cooking, and I think I'm pretty good at it. Also, I'm no chump -- I wash the dishes after I cook.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Looking for a house to buy somewhere around here. Maybe South Austin.

I like meeting up with friends and driving around aimlessly to get to know my city a little better. I've been coming up here since I was 16, but it is different being a resident -- seeing things change so fast all the time is a trip.

The future fascinates me, and I've always loved science fiction since I was little. Asteroid mining; solar photovoltaics; super capacitors; artificial intelligence; brain simulation; virtualized computing; brain-computer interfaces; lifespan-augmenting medicine; extraterrestrial life-forms; terraforming; robots -- it's a pretty exciting time to be alive.

I can't wait for Google cars. I hate being traffic.

I like to run. Especially trails. The countryside around this city is badass.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Wasting time; losing sleep; letting people know I give a shit about them; driving a thousand miles in a day; not getting stupid jokes; getting the funny ones.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My real name seems to be hard for people to pronounce at first. Half of the time they get it wrong on the first try no matter how clearly I try to enunciate. Maybe I should just use an alias with strangers and tell people my name is something common and easy to pronounce, like "James" or "Dave" or something simple like that.

Favorite song ever is Johnny Cash's "The Man In Black". I'll give you $20 if you can tell me why.

Mostly I like stuff written by people like Pablo Neruda, Dylan Thomas, Carl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens, Isaac Asimov, Chris Hedges and Noam Chomsky. Poetry, science-fiction, non-fiction. My favorite books include Dune and a short story called The Last Question.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Burial and Shara Worden. And also these nice people,

Saw The Guardians of the Galaxy the other night, and then again over the weekend. That movie is the shit. I also saw Boyhood by Richard Linklater the other day. Never had been to the Violet Crown Cinema before. Cool place. Great movie.

My favorite food? I forgot how dumb these questions are. Whatever. Uh... Tacos al pastor. Bream nigiri. Ponsit. Shrimp. I'll eat anything and love it, so long as it's prepared properly and with skill.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Texas highways when the sun is setting; inspiration; a few reliable friends; occasional solitude; some good music; laptop.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where I want to build my awesome house.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Seeing a movie, having dinner with a friend, going for a run, taking my dog for a walk in the park, programming something, or going for a swim, whatever. Something.

Or maybe I'm just relaxing at home, sitting on my little porch, and watching the sun set over the wooded hills.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've quit smoking about a dozen times.
