My self-summary
I am a nerdy, sincere, and modest man
What I’m doing with my life
Lately my spare time has mostly been consumed by some personal software projects and taking care of my dog.

In my spare spare time I enjoy driving around Austin to meet up with friends and to get to know the city a little better. I've been visiting since I was 16, but it's a bit different being a resident -- things seem to change so much more quickly.

The future fascinates me, and I've always loved science fiction since I was little. Asteroid mining; solar photovoltaics; super capacitors; artificial intelligence; brain simulation; virtualized computing; brain-computer interfaces; lifespan-augmenting medicine; extraterrestrial life-forms; terraforming; robots -- it's a pretty exciting time to be alive.

I can't wait for Google cars. I hate being traffic.

I've been trying to get back into trail running, but it's hard to find the motivation to stick with it these days.
I’m really good at
Wasting time; losing sleep; being late; driving a thousand miles in a day; not getting a joke; using semi-colons appropriately.
The first things people usually notice about me
My real name seems to be hard for people to pronounce at first. Half of the time they get it wrong on the first try no matter how clearly I try to enunciate. Some people seem to think that I am tall but I know lots of people who are much taller than I.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite song ever is Johnny Cash's "The Man In Black".

Mostly I like stuff written by people like Pablo Neruda, Dylan Thomas, Carl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens, Isaac Asimov, Chris Hedges and Noam Chomsky. Poetry, science-fiction, non-fiction. My favorite books include Dune and a short story called The Last Question.

I'm really enjoying the latest Burial extended play record right now. Plus I've been enjoying rediscovering Shara Worden.

Saw the Grand Budapest Hotel one recent Friday night. The Slaughter Lane Drafthouse computers went down and so they decided to not bill me for my food. Argh! I had to drive to an ATM to get cash for the waitress. It was a wonderful movie though, and the Drafthouse is always great no matter what.

I like to cook, and I especially like seafood. Beef and vegetables in wine sauce is also nice. And tofu Thai dishes.
The six things I could never do without
Texas highways when the sun is setting; inspiration; a few reliable friends; occasional solitude; some good music; laptop.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I'm ever going to afford to build my own house.
On a typical Friday night I am
I spend most of my free time working on coding a little text-based multi-player game with a friend of mine. Or maybe I'm out watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've quit smoking about a dozen times.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 27–37
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You are a kind-hearted person who is kind because we live a short time on this planet, and why not help make the small experiences we have while we are here the best experiences possible?

You're just looking to make a new friend. I know my profile says I'm into dating, but that's really just sort of a possibility, not something I'm actively looking to do.
