My Notes edit

My self-summary

Hmm..I have freakishly small wrists(or so I've been told). I own every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD, and have memorized just about every line of The Princess Bride. I've been doing yoga for years, and yet, amazingly, still suck at it. People always think I'm taller than I am and I'm someone that always gets stopped by tourists asking for directions. (And I always do my best to help them, I swear.) I like watching standup comedy, reading really good stories and listening to music that actually means something. I love spending time in natural settings, even though I don't get to that often. I think the city makes you stir-crazy for grass and birds and places that don't have subways.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm a Grants Administrator as my boring day job. Like 99.9% of people in the metro area, I'm also a musician and writer. (And I have the overpriced and useless undergrad and grad degrees to prove it.) At the moment I'm trying to finish the rewrite of a novel and looking to start performing again. I just started taking swing dancing classes last month (East Coast Lindy Hop).

I'm really good at

Baking cakes, finding the humor in even the worst situations, singing songs from the 1920s and 1930s, surviving, staying awake on road trips, reading people, interior decorating, organization and being a good friend.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My red hair (natural).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Dickens (particularly "A Christmas Carol" -best opening line ever), Harry Potter series, Kate DiCamillo's books, anything by Poe, poetry from the days when real poets were allowed to rhyme, The Book Thief, the occasional trashy romantic thriller.

Movies: The Princess Bride (top pick), Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, The Notebook, Dead Again, Garden State, The Lost Room miniseries (it's awesome), The Tenth Kingdom (another great miniseries

TV: Grey's Anatomy, Pushing Daisies (the bastards that canceled this show and allowed something like "True Beauty" to get airtime to deserve to be shot--wait I take that back, they deserve to spend their days watching that show in a constant loop. That will teach them.)

Music: way too much to list--a bit of everything. On a general front my absolute favs are old 20s and 30s jazz and acoustic folk rock. Some artists/composers: Beethoven, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah McLachlan, Joe Purdy, EastMoutainSouth, Norah Jones.

Food: I like to try new foods and I can pretty much find something I like on every menu. Some of my top picks are; Greek/Mediterranean, BBQ, Cuban, Chinese

The six things I could never do without

1. Diet Coke
2. My ipod
3. My laptop
4. A good book to read
5. Sunblock
6. Tote Bags

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Escaping NYC and living in a little cottage by the water.

On a typical Friday night I am

Home--reading, watching a movie, practicing some music, playing a computer game (or my Wii) or writing.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'm a Scorpio so there's nothing private that I'm willing to admit here.

You should message me if

You're funny--or just fun. Be interesting, be smart--make me laugh. Be quirky, be weird, be yourself. And of course be nice. Nice is so much harder to find then people think. Bonus points if you play an instrument or have some kind of artistic ability.

If any of that sounds like you, drop me a line.
