I am straightforward, lazy, and imaginative.

My Self-Summary

I've spent the last two years both celibate and alone, by choice, completely avoiding dating, sex, romance and relationships. I'm not quite sure yet if I want to break that streak, but I'm opening myself up a little bit again to seeing what's out there. The point being, I'm sort of a mess, incredibly busy, and probably a bit narcissistic. Some people like that, though, I guess.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a writer and editor for Las Vegas Weekly, where I mainly do movie and TV reviews, plus read all the stories in the paper and make sure the commas are in the right places and things are spelled properly. I'm also the TV Comedies Guide for About.com, and the movie reviewer for 107.5-FM. Basically, I spend all my time watching movies and TV shows, and then writing and talking about them.

I’m really good at

Expressing myself via the written word, can't you tell? Also being sarcastic and biting, and giving people advice even if I can't get my own life together. I'm also a champion speller. I have the trophy to prove it.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. Not that many guys have long hair these days. I kind of look like a refugee from Poison a little.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Lots of Stephen King, especially The Stand and Hearts in Atlantis. Clive Barker's Imajica. William Gibson's Idoru and Neuromancer. Ursula LeGuin's The Dispossessed. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Lots of horror and sci-fi.

Movies: Too many to name. A sampling: Heathers, Fight Club, South Park, Clerks, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Craft, Scream, Big Lebowski, Bound, Wild Things, Almost Famous, Batman (Tim Burton-style), Rosemary's Baby, The Birds, Manhattan, Bring It On, Gattaca, Carrie, Pulp Fiction, Terminator 2, Breathless, Lone Star, La Femme Nikita, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Heat, To Die For, Interview With the Vampire, Hannah and Her Sisters, Rear Window, The Silence of the Lambs, Quick Change, Clueless, Chasing Amy, The Conversation, Out of Sight, Misery, Annie Hall, Before Sunset, North by Northwest, Face/Off, The Last Picture Show, The Truman Show, The Matrix, Three Kings, Halloween, Memento, The Fly, About Schmidt, Wayne's World, etc.

Music: All-time favorites include Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Weezer, Tool, Nirvana, Garbage, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains. Lately, I tend to gravitate toward metal (Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, God Forbid, In Flames, etc.), country (Tift Merritt, Shelby Lynne, Allison Moorer, Julie Roberts, Miranda Lambert, Drive-By Truckers, etc.) and pop (Robyn, Alphabeat, Hanson, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, etc.). I'm not sure what those three have in common.

Food: I have very bad eating habits. As in, I eat the same as I did when I was seven. So no vegetables, almost no fruits, nothing that's not processed or microwaved or frozen or all three. Mainly I eat mac n' cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cheeseburgers, frozen pizzas and dessert. I expect to have a heart attack very soon.

The six things I could never do without

Movies, comic books, sleep, regular showers, music, internet

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Taking a nap.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home alone, watching a movie or doing some work or watching a movie for work.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a lot of kinks and sexual hang-ups (including submissive tendencies) that can make intimacy a little fraught with anxiety for me. I'm working on it.

You should message me if

Man, I don't fucking know. If you can figure it out, please tell me.
