My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My name is Katy.

I'm a
passionate
introverted
intuitive
illogical
verbose
stubborn
creative spirit.

I have the disposition of a Disney Princess and the mind of Wednesday Addams. Numbers make me furious but words make my knees weak. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve, which sometimes scares people. I assume zebras when I hear hoofbeats, often speak in hyperbole, and prefer my martinis dirty, my music loud, and my hair dyed pink.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a freelance choreographer/performer with a BFA in Dance, trying - and often struggling - to figure out my place in the overall arts industry.

When I’m not running around to various rehearsals or working at my great day job, free time is spent daydreaming about moving to NYC (or even abroad) in the future, sleeping too much, constantly searching for a parking space, running at least ten minutes late (probably because I couldn’t find a parking space), scribbling in my journal, losing myself in a book, watching way too much streaming Netflix, recovering from vivid nightmares, listening to NPR, and overusing parentheses (I can't help it.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am, to my core, a natural performer and choreographer...I dance, choreograph, sing, and act with my entire self.
I'm a really fucking good writer - I primarily write memoir/general non-fiction prose, but will occasionally churn out a poem. As previously mentioned, words make me weak in the knees.
I have a keen ear for foreign languages, dialects, and voices.
I'm fantastic on skates, whether it be ice, inline, or roller--I'm a former figure skater and aspiring roller derby girl.
And I'm really, really, really good at getting lost even if I have GPS to help me!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes and ridiculously huge smile.

A LOT. But since you asked...

MOVIES:
My number one favorite is AMÉLIE, and always will be.
My favorite films foundation is made up of Disney happily-ever-afters, Tarantino femme fatales, Hitchcockian suspense, John Waters’ inimitable brand of filth, Tim Burton dark comedy, Kevin Smith's low-brow humor mixed with wit and satire, and Baz Luhrmann alternate realities.
Other essential viewing includes All About Eve, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Hours, Pleasantville, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Secretary, Ghost World, Jurassic Park, Moonstruck, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Empire Records, High Fidelity, Serenity, and Suspiria. Movie nights are my favorite nights.

MUSIC:
Musicals, movie soundtracks, idiosyncratic love songs, Irish music, jazz singers, swing, classical, bluegrass, opera, classic rock, mash-up remixes, a cappella, guilty pleasure pop songs, hip hop, really good cover songs, and old-timey novelty songs with silly and/or dirty titles. Random artist sampling includes The Decemberists, The Chieftains, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Flogging Molly, Ella Fitzgerald, Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Martha Wainwright, Janelle Monae, Die Antwoord, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rufus Wainwright, Indigo Girls, Ani Difranco, Adele, Beyonce, Patsy Cline, Yann Tiersen, Save Ferris, JD McPherson, Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes. And ABBA! If you're lucky, I'll make you one of my world famous mix CDs.

BOOKS:
My favorite book is White Oleander. I re-read it once a year.
My favorite author is Francesca Lia Block, and it's tough for me to pick which one of her books is my favorite.
Other fiction favorites include Sharp Objects, Gone Girl, The Bell Jar, Good Omens, Valley of the Dolls, Water for Elephants, and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood...Basically, I gravitate towards horrifying stories written beautifully. Nonfiction/Memoir favorites include works by David Sedaris, Susan Orlean, Caitlin Moran, and Natalie Goldberg. My favorite poet is Billy Collins, but am mildly obsessed with Sierra DeMulder as well.
Also, I have a massive love of all things Shakespeare.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Besides the obvious things like food, air, etc...

1. My beautiful black cat, Ragnar. He is my animal sidekick and feline soulmate.
2. Choreographing and performing.
3. Friends, family, and interesting strangers.
4. Writing.
5. Music.
6. Alone time to recharge.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where the hell I want to go from here.
I used to have it all figured out, but now my future has a "...?" at the end of it. I was very much okay with that for awhile, but now I'm eager to figure things out.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Singing my face off at karaoke, seeing a play/musical, or having a staring contest with my cat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'll give you a hint: I'm not "vanilla."

And in a totally different vein, it's a lifelong dream of mine to be in an ABBA cover band.

You're a trustworthy person, you have your shit together, you're easy to talk to, are interested in a relationship over casual sex, and LIVE LOCALLY. Please be clear with your intentions; I've had too many false starts, and it's wearing on me.
Also, well-written messages make my heart flutter...just sayin'.
