I am guileless, halcyon, and scrumdiddilyumptious.

My Self-Summary

I am:
- Probably not at all what you'd expect
- Kinetic but relaxed
- Recklessly honest yet kind
- Outdoorsy much of the time but indoorsy sometimes too
- Lots of seemingly conflicting things at once
- One of those mildly-idealistic, quasi-socialistic, happily minimalistic, tree-hugging, do-gooder types
- Prone to using big words where small ones suffice
- TV free (It's still good for Netflix but not much else)
- A traveler and being such is one of my greatest joys
- Well-balanced and nutritious
- On my way but enjoying the scenic route

I'm looking for an angel who has beauty and grace but isn't afraid to get her feathers dirty; who has a bright open mind and isn't afraid to use it; who amazes and challenges me; who has strength but can be vulnerable as well.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm an itinerant ecologist which basically means that I'm a science geek that works outdoors with some environmentally-minded objective. Where I am and exactly what I'm doing changes every so often and I expect that it will continue to do so until I find a good reason to stay in one place.

Until then I'm moving around; living, learning, and working in some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Right now, my work has me enjoying the crisp clear days and sleeping under the infinitely starry night skies of the desert.

In my off-time I'm usually traveling with my housemates/coworkers around to just about anywhere within a reasonable driving distance. Generally though, I'm just hanging out, trying new things, experiencing new places, and maybe making a new friend once in a while.

I’m really good at

By the accounts of others:
- Cooking
- Yoga (who knew that flexibility was actually good for something)
- Giving massages (and I offer that info as innocently as possible)
- Falling asleep at any and all opportunities (coffee is my copilot)
- Photography and art in general (of true talent however I have little)
- SCIENCE!

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I tend to keep to myself making it difficult to really notice much else. It can take me a little while to warm up to people and even then I tend to be silent most of the time... Sometimes I talk.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm locked in a losing battle with my ever-growing to-read pile.
Books: The Omnivore's Dilemma, Natural Capitalism, The God of Small Things, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Siddhartha, 1984, In a Sunburned Country, A Walk in the Woods, Ender's Game, I Am Legend, When You Are Engulfed in Flames

Heavy Netflix user when I have time...
Movies: The Constant Gardener, Planet B-Boy, You've Got Mail, Life as a House, The Science of Sleep, Wall-E, Howl's Moving Castle, Say Anything, Predator, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Labyrinth, etc.

Music: Brandi Carlile, Norah Jones, Sigur Rós, Radiohead, M. Ward, Madeleine Peyroux, Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, Telefon Tel Aviv, Ratatat, the Flaming Lips, Cake, TOOL, etc.

Food: I'll eat just about anything so long as it's real food. Thai, Cajun, sushi, Italian, Mexican... All the better if its spicy and I can cook it for myself.

The six things I could never do without

- Adventures in the out of doors
- Personal transportation
- Tasty edibles
- Good music
- Appropriate and durable footwear
- Campfires

I spend a lot of time thinking about

- How complex and amazing the world is and how we are both great and insignificant in it
- All the places that I'd like to go and wonders I've yet to see
- What the hell is wrong with people and why do they cause so much trouble for each other

On a typical Friday night I am

I don't really have Friday nights these days but if I did, I'd probably be sleeping.

I'm much more likely to be getting up early on Saturday morning than getting in late on a Friday night.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a cancer survivor.

Moving along.

You should message me if

...you want to talk for a bit.

I like it when people dig right into important matters so don't be afraid to walk right up to then over a few lines of propriety.

I'll often be away from civilization for several days at a time so don't be offended if I don't answer quickly.
