My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My most vivid memories as a child are very basic- sitting atop bluffs amazed by the waves crashing below; picking apricots at an apricot farm and having the sticky fragrant pulp drip down my chin as the fruit entered my mouth; doing backdives off the side of the swimming pool. Hoping to find a man who loves his culture and books but has experienced that learning is truly from his relationships. Importantly, I am looking for someone to cook with. It's no fun to cook for just yourself, even if you adore food, like me! Holler if you're there!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For seven years, I was a research scientist at work, but I've wrapped that up for now, and am ready to move on to my next big career adventure. Before that, I made my living as a professional musician. I love studying languages in my spare time- French, Spanish, Italian and am planning on doing a lot more trips to Europe in the future. Ultimately, along with continually learning, the most important thing and goal for me is to- through self-expression and listening, connect with other people. Oh, and to always dine well whether it be cooked at home or out, and to do more exercise, not one right after the other though :)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
the piano (in the past), giving backrubs, writing (when the occasion calls for it), making special dishes
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
A) no one favorite- but I love the classics of western lit (fitzgerald, faulkner, hemingway, steinbeck), contemporary authors (Amis, Bolano, Murakami, Bryson). I love social science and history books, as well as more popular science books (mind wide open, proust was a neuroscientist, books by Bill Bryson, etc.).
B) 12 Monkeys, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Lawrence of Arabia, East of Eden, Last King of Scotland, Lives of Others, Science of Sleep, 2 Days in Paris, list goes on and on
C) Curb Your Enthusiasm, Downton Abbey, Portlandia, No Reservations, House, now, Naked and Afraid!
D) everything from Robin Thicke to James Blake to Tchaikovsky to world music to modeselektor. I like all kinds of music- my pandora list is too long.
E) french food, Mediterranean food, southern comfort food, anything using fresh and local ingredients
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
English language, hot showers, internet, creative compassionate friends, good sleep cycles, good eats and drinks (not in any particular order)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
human nature
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
spending time with friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This is my third line of work, and the last two were completely unrelated to what I do now.
