My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Having grown up in Northwest NJ - the real garden state - I graduated High Point, then left Rutgers College after my first year. I moved to Houston, then various parts of the Southwest, coming to call Sierra Vista home. I took a haitus and spent 5 years in WI, but came back to SE Arizona in hopes of getting warm again. Divorced with 2 adult children, I am currently a paralegal manager for a law office, I have 29 years experience in various areas of the law but my passion and emphasis is family law.

I was raised Republican by my dad but have become more of a libertarian the older I get. I like reading sci fi, (Star Trek!); watching TV (crime and lawyers and GH since college); attending concerts, especially 80s and 90s pop music; and cooking, using my own home-grown herbs (legal ones for cooking). I like driving my car with the top down and the music on. America is a beautiful country, which cannot be appreciated by flying. One of my completed goals was driving Rte. 66 from beginning to end., I drove CA Hwy. 1 from Santa Cruz to Santa Monica and would love to do the northern coastal drive from San Francisco to the WA border.

I didn't expect to be starting a new life at 50, but in doing so I realized I have never lived alone before. It's a new experience. I prefer life to have a foundation of security from which I can then fly and explore new people, places, and things. I can have fun cuddling on the couch watching a movie; I can be exhilarated driving down the road to somewhere I have never been (just don't believe in honoring the speed limit); and I can be content sitting on the mountainside watching a gorgeous sunset. For me, life requires some of each in order to have balance. However, be warned, my idea of camping is a minimum of an RV; I am not the sleep on the ground type, and until I have my coffee and hot shower, I don't feel alive.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Re-learning how to live without life getting in the way.

Momentarily, I have been snuggling in my blankets in front of my Christmas tree as I got the best and worst Christmas present in one item - a wireless dvd player with various free trials including amazon prime. I have spent my first Alone holiday season watching stargate in order and there are 10 seasons. The dvd plays endless formats so websites are accessible. I am ashamed by how much tv I have watched and love it at the same time. Hey, it's wintertime and i don't like being cold, so it works for the cold, dark wintry month. I know, I am in AZ, but they call it the high desert for a reason.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
My job, cooking, driving.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Depends on who they are and why they are noticing me. Some say my smile; some say my confidence. If I am cooking, then they only notice that they want more.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love science fiction, legal mysteries, and most other types of mysteries. I have been a Star Trek fan since I was 10. I like music from the 80s and 90s, Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, Journey, Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi and more currently, The Fray, New Republic.

Food, for me it's less about what type of food and more about it being good food, which has nothing to do with price. I am a good cook so rarely eat Italian out since I prefer my own. But I like good Mexican restaurants, good pizza, and desserts, and I love chicken fried steak at truck stops. I don't like sushi. There is a little diner in Bisbee that makes wonderful breakfasts. There's an expensive restaurant in Phoenix attached to a Hilton property that serves a wonderful gourmet meal. The best steak I ever ate was a well-known Rte. 66 place in Amarillo, Texas. Quality and creativity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Keeping warm - winter seems to have set in suddenly and quickly!

Should I shorten my profile?

The local community college should offer a class on how to date when you have been married and raising children for the last half of your life.

What I miss most in living alone is having someone around to talk with about the everyday things - from work, to the news, to movies or music, to something that caught my attention - and I miss having someone to do things with - from cooking to roadtrips to the everyday chores.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Watching TV - The result of living alone. I think about the yard work and household chores but find that a book attracts my attention first.
