My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Playing, running, thinking, talking, barracking, cooking, contemplating, sharing, cross fitting, baking, travelling, reading...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Hanging out with friends and 2 gorgeous nephews. Being healthy and active (crossfit, marathon training, yoga). Enjoying the warmer weather especially the late afternoon sun on my balcony. Researching and developing policy for local government.
Appreciating Melbourne's off road trails (see marathon training....) Worrying about what we're doing to the planet and really hoping we start listening to the smart people soon. Looking for love in...hopefully the right place :-)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making lists, finding fun stuff to do, following recipes, talking about and analysing stuff. Knowing a bit about a lot of things. It also appears I'm quite good at making Monte Carlos. I'm trying to get better at avoiding my life being a checklist from Stuff White People Like...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I’m one of those nice, normal girls who can have an intelligent conversation about the world. I have pretty strong views about, among other things, politics, the environment and the benefits of eating more vegetables, but don't tend to bring these out when first meeting people ;-)
I've been told I'm reserved but I don't see it that way - I just sometimes like to observe things before I get involved.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Some political books (James Button, Don Watson, Quarterly Essay) and some fiction (Ian McEwan, John Fowles, Jane Austen). I like to think I read other non fiction but judging by the stack of half read books next to my bed that is a dubious claim...
Movies & shows: I'm rubbish at watching scary movies and to watch more TV series: mini-series and Adam Hills on the ABC, Borgen, The West Wing, 30 Rock, House of Cards.

Music: I listen to a lot of stuff - Spotify radio is possibly the greatest invention ever - current favourites include The XX, Airling, Banks, Frank Ocean, Dire Straits, PJ Harvey, Paul Simon. Aussie hip hop and Triple J to mix it up. Trashy pop is a guilty secret - usually only when I'm running.

Food: I like to cook, particularly euro style (i.e. simple and beautiful) and am also very grateful for Melbourne's awesome Asian/ Mex/ Euro/ whatever else is cool style and variety. I usually eat pretty well cause I feel better for it, but also like to indulge occasionally. Or more than occasionally. Just not all the time :-)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good chocolate, wine, cheese, coffee... probably not all at once
Friends and family - what life is all about
A dining table big enough to read the newspaper on. (Not happy about change to tabloid style there The Age, I went out and got a big table especially)
Passport - nothing more exciting than gearing up for an overseas trip
Sunshine and a perfect blue sky. It just makes me feel good, especially in winter
Exercise and being active - keeps me sane and I love the sense of achievement I get from lifting heavy stuff and running fast
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How much better the public transport system would be if I was in charge (and found a magic money tree). What I should cook for dinner (something healthy - maybe vietnamese salad). What is wrong with politics these days (don't have an answer on that yet). How the Cats are going to go this year (win, of course). Whether chocolate almonds are better than chocolate covered raspberries (yes, but raspberries are also awesome).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Team bonding over a drink or two; going somewhere cool for dinner with friends; watching the footy with beers; resting after a big week; trying to second guess tomorrow's's all about variety...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes I make a cake or biscuits just so I can lick the bowl...
