My self-summary
I need laughing in my life at all times. Luckily, I laugh quite easily, so this has never been an issue for me.
I like kindness and honesty. The world can always use more compassion. I try to give as much love as I can to as many people as possible every day. I routinely strike up conversations with strangers, smile at babies, and will always tell you how wonderful you are.
I do a horrific impression of Christopher Walken, but I love doing it so I do it all the time. I've been told that it sounds more like Bill Cosby. Practice makes perfect!
I am obsessed with old Gregg, and quote it constantly in my classroom. My students haven't seen it, so I'm pretty sure they just think I'm insane.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a high school math teacher, and I absolutely adore my job. I'm also constantly expanding my education, and really appreciate that same quality in others. Mostly, I just love the fact that I can come to work and laugh all day. My kids are amazing, and I would really like to meet someone who can appreciate that.
I try to lead a balanced life, but I will say my students end up coming first a lot of the time. However, emotional health is very important to me, so I make sure to take care of myself. I very recently started training for a marathon with my dad, which has probably been the best bonding experience for which I could ask. I volunteer every week at a therapeutic riding center, which is awesome and the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
I’m really good at
Making an awkward situation hilarious, creating crafts and academic foldables on the fly, forcing people to like me, talking strangers into doing silly things, and smiling! I'm also quite good at witty repertoire and laughing at myself.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hopefully my smile. I teach in a mostly Hispanic school, and the first thing the kids notice is my "colored eyes." In a perfect world you'd notice my genuine enjoyment of life.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love all books. I lean toward anything psychology related, but I'll read anything that's put in front of me. I used to watch a lot of reality tv, mostly bravo, but I've found I have less time for that now. I adore movies; I am captivated by nearly any story line.
Music: I love Daddy Yankee and Gangsta Rap. Blame my students. I will also happily listen to any and all radio stations. (Yes, that means NPR, Christian Rock, Spanish music, etc)
As far as food is concerned, I don't eat meat, but can't resist good sushi on occasion. I like to cook, but my apartment is definitely lacking in the kitchen department, so I spend a lot of time doing dishes. Worth it.
The six things I could never do without
my kindle, my cat, my family, the inexplicably soft blanket that graces my bed, getting to spend all day laughing with a bunch of awesome kids, and... fountain beverages.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
lesson plans, how to break into the math supply closet, where I can find the best fountain beverage, why my students try to sharpen each other's fingers in the pencil sharpener, what would be the best pair of shoes to most easily slide across a linoleum floor, what makes the hot dad that lives down the street from me so much hotter than all normal non-dads, why I continue to attempt yoga, new slang my students have taught me, budgets, and Marvin Gaye.
On a typical Friday night I am
I stay late at school on Fridays for tutorials and to set up for Monday. After that, it's usually happy hour with coworkers. I try to get to bed early because I volunteer on Saturday mornings. Saturday night is more of my going out night, but to be honest, the bar/club scene doesn't really appeal to me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm in a perpetual state of worry that my students will make a seemingly innocuous statement into a double entendre, and mock me mercilessly. Just the other day, while we were cutting paper into strips, I told them,"I'm not worried about the length. What I'm most concerned about at this point is width." My students made me take 5 minutes of quiet time to reflect on what I had said.
I also have to constantly stifle the urge to say "that's what she said," when my kids make the perfect setup. Most of the time I fail to control myself and say it anyway.

You should message me if
You frequently make inappropriate jokes, laugh at ridiculously immature behavior, and possess zen-like patience and child-like wonder. You understand that respect and kindness toward others can change the world, and you should probably like horror movies too. Especially the really bad ones.

I'm a sucker for a tall, good looking man. (Who isn't?) Kind eyes melt my heart. Laugh lines are always a plus.
