My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Note: I'm not looking for any new relationships at this point with the possible exception of new friends.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool geek. I love fantasy, science fiction, actual science, technology, and things that go bump.

Exploring urban, rural, and wilderness areas of all sorts, I try to get out to do some urban spelunking. I especially like abandoned areas.

Gloom makes me happy: Graveyards, swamps, overcast days (stormy weather is a beach day, to me), spooky settings, and old farms at night appeal to me. It might be because there are few people in those places. Not many people like a beach as a storm approaches.

I've been told I am pretty laid back. But I can be kind of a jerk when it comes to standing up for what I believe in. And I have some very strong ideas in the areas of ethics and social justice.

And yes, many of my pictures are recent. I am told I look pretty young.

I am in a polyamorous relatonship with gogoghoul. The poly experience has been both awesome and enlightening. It's taught me a lot about relationships.

Anyone who is interested in me and my life should be aware of and respectful of my relationships with any others.

To name myself, since I enjoy labels: atheist, poly, skeptic, scientist, INTJ, lover, fighter, gamer, feminist, geek, nerd, explorer, student, transhumanist, father, teacher, humanist, kinky, dominant, top, cisgendered, heterosexual, male, sadist, daddy.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Getting stable in Tucson, now that I have moved. I am living with myself in my own apartment. It's quite the change and it's taking some getting used to.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
finding solutions to problems. I have a lot of talent in an attribute I like to call utility. Given some time and a little information I can come up to solutions for most problems and at least a direction to turn for any I can't solve. I often wish there was a place I could put this to use. I would be some rich dude's problem-solving companion. Like the opposite of a Holmes/Watson situation. Now that's entertainment! I mean I am no Adrian Monk, but I get shit done with the right resources. This ties into my talents at research and documentation. Some people might find this boring. I don't.

And whistling.

On a sort of related note, I am good at rocking the boat, if it's needed.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm told by many it's my smile. I am terminally cheerful. Though I suspect when I am bald (which is usually, now) that sort of stands out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Among my many categories I am a science fiction/fantasy geek. The Lord of the Rings is both one of my favorites in books and movies. I was a Lord of the Rings fan before it was cool. Does this mean I was a hipster before it was cool? I'm a hipster hipster? Strike that. I am, however, so hip I can't see over my pelvis.

I've read so much science fiction and fantasy I sometimes can't even recall what I've read when I pick it up. I will get through the first chapter in a book I think is new to me and think, "Oh. I've read it." But I read it anyway. And since there is a handy site for that kind of thing, I will point to it here:

Non-fiction includes anything that can teach me something about Math, Physics, Geology, Astronomy, etc. I used to check Algebra and Calculus books out of the library and work my way through them. My love of science and reason has often been taken for transcendental. But since my reason grounds me, this can't be.

I am pretty diverse in my musical interests. Though I've found that if Dean Winchester likes it, I probably do as well.

I can't think of a type of food I've tried and not liked. I am willing to try anything within reason, food or otherwise.

For TV, I like Dr. Who and I've been watching since I was a wee lad. I'm a Tom Baker fan for life, but these new guys seem to be doing it justice. Examples: Supernatural, True Blood, Dexter (up until that last bit), and Archer are all good.

Adult Swim is awesome. Robot Chicken is pure genius.

All that said, my primary hobbies are reading, writing, D&D, video games, biking, and exploring. All of my best friends I have met through D&D and MUDs. I've met quite a few on World of Warcraft. D&D and other role-playing games (mostly D&D) have been prominent in my life since I was about four, so it's been there through all my formative stages, and I have been there through its formative stages.

I will have to include video games in this area, too, but there are too many to name. I've been all up on Diablo 3, lately, and I always go back to Yuri's Revenge, eventually. Master of Orion 2 is the only Master of Orion worth a damn. Zork was awesome. I cut my teeth coding C on a MUD called VargonMUD (Successor to MUDDog). The Fallout series has been a great love, from the first one to New Vegas. All good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. To crush my enemies
2. See them driven before me
3. Hear the lamentations of their women
4. Something to complain about
5. Righteous indignation
6. Your mom

Seriously. What kind of question is this?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Weird things. Too many to list here. Heck I might be thinking about many things at any given time. Generally the contents of my thoughts might make decent premises for science fiction, fantasy, and horror anthologies. Or even a BDSM scenario or twenty.

I think about transhumanism and immortality a lot. I also believe that if we're not off this rock by the time the sun swells and swallows it, then we don't deserve to exist.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Days of the week or the time of day seem to mean little on my schedules. But I love the resources the internet has to offer. I intend to go prowling more, especially if I can get someone to go with me.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a favorite fork.

... you have a question or want to know where things might stand. As Shirley Manson sang, "Don't let a soul-mate pass you by." Or something less dramatic. Sometimes I don't contact someone because I perceive that person might not be looking for what I have to offer, such as being single or within a certain age range. If you think there might have been a missed opportunity, feel free to message me. I generally won't contact you if I perceive you're not interested, but I have been known to be wrong on occasion. My "looking for" section is also not scribed in stone.

If you want a peek into what appeals to me, I have a tumblr.
I have more on Fetlife, if one is inclined to learn more in detail.

If you have any questions, comments, gripes, complaints, praise, or anything else, I would love to hear from you. I am quite diplomatic when approached with courtesy, no matter the views of the person approaching me. How am I going to change minds, win friends, and influence people, otherwise?
