My self-summary
Radio geek, foodie, Sinophile, hopeless romantic.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a freelance radio documentary producer, cook, teacher and writer - one month is never the same as the last! Recently I've been writing an article about the food culture of Chinese takeaways in the UK (oh yes), and developing a Radio 4 programme that I will hopefully be making in the autumn.

Originally from a small town in Yorkshire, I've been London-based for the past few years, but before that I lived in China for 3 years, and am currently starting to hear the call of the road once more…

I adore food and nothing is more relaxing for me than cooking. I also co-run an occasional pop-up restaurant, and lead food tours of Chinatown.

I love discovering the hidden alleys of London by bike, wild swimming, a log fire at home/in a pub/in the great outdoors, dancing, walking through fields, reading in the bath, hippy festivaling, picnicing, watching sunsets, hunting charity shops for old maps / prints / ceramics / spoons, and recently, running and learning to drive!
I’m really good at
Listening, cooking, conversing, enthusing.
The first things people usually notice about me
My curly hair - people usually tell me I look like either Barbara Streisand or Baby from Dirty Dancing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favourites are hard…I'll tell you what is currently occupying me instead.

Books: Deep Sea and Foreign Going by Rose George (love non-fiction, can't understand people who don't)
Films: Really loved The Grand Budapest Hotel
TV land: True Detective (aka best crime drama after The Wire)
Music: Tuneyards (going to see her in June woo!)
Food: always in love with Chinese, but recently discovered Georgian (the country, not the state or era)
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
China
Slippers
Radio
Friends
Nature
Food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ideas for radio programmes and what I'm going to have for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no typical Friday night. But on any night of the week I can often be found cooking for friends / being cooked for by friends / going out for dinner with friends (as you can see life pretty much revolves around food for me!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have been known to eat Nutella out of the jar.
