I'm seriously obsessed with revolutionary theory and politics;
questions of economics, gender and race, internationalism, method
and tactics of struggle, historical questions and lessons,
I try to stay on top of art and literature too, though I have a
hard time dragging myself away from political theory.
Also, this idea came to me a few months ago:
So the universe was created out of the big bang, the explosion of a
single point, both infinitely tiny and infinitely vast. From this
big bang came massive amounts of super active energy. As this
energy slowed and cooled, it began to form matter, beginning with
the simplest atom, hydrogen. From this initial formation of the
tiniest form of matter, the whole cosmos and all matter now with us
developed over time. At some point several billion years ago, on
this planet, the material conditions were just right that allowed
matter to make another leap into organic form; life was created.
Like the universe at the beginning and hydrogen soon after the big
bang, life began in its tiniest, simplest form. From that form, it
began to develop and evolve into higher and higher forms of life,
each stage developing a greater sense of consciousness. Ultimately,
there came humans, born out of the storm of unplanned randomness,
the first life form (of which we know) capable not only of
self-consciousness, but also creativity. We are the first
phenomenon in the universe that has the capacity to consciously
test the limits of our material reality and shape it to our every
diversifying desires. Yet there was at no point a break in the
process of development, from the big bang to you reading this
essay. That means that each of our individual consciousnesses is
only the simplest expression - the hydrogen atom or amoeba of
consciouness - of the universe trying to understand and direct
itself. We are a key step in the infinite process of the universe
itself working to understand and control itself, to preserve itself
beyond its own limits.
So get your shit together but don't take things too seriously.
