My Self-Summary

****I'm always updating.****

Well, what's to say. I'm married. And we have one daughter. We also do foster care, which is at times fun, and other times frustrating. We're also looking into adoption at some point.

I work as an order selector at a Nash Finch grocery warehouse in Westville, Indiana. It's not a bad job. I just have some issues focusing on the task itself. In case you're wondering, what I do it drive a double pallet jack around the warehouse stacking pallets, about 7 feet high, and then I drop them off at a dock door, where they are loaded. Yeah, it's good for staying healthy and getting exersize, but it's tedious and repetitive. And I have ADHD. So I struggle a bit. Previous jobs included cashier at Jewel Osco in Chesterton, Painter at the Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago, Custodian at Valparaiso High School, and stockroom....guy...at Target in Valpo. So I've done a lot of different stuff.

I like music and movies. I can't get a whole lot more specific than that. I'm not too picky really. I suppose it'd be easier to say what I don't like. I don't like country music, and I don't like, but occasionally tolerate, creepy suspense thrillers. I'm really not into pointless gore movies. It's fine if it drives the point, or achieves some kind of rational goal, but too much becomes tasteless, in my eyes.

Also, I love to read, mostly Science Fiction or non-fiction, and play video games. over half of my pictures were taken at various LAN parties.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm paying the bills. With my life. :3

Honestly though, I'm looking to go back to school at some time in the near future. Better late than never, I suppose. I'm a little limited on options. Limited by money. Which is stupid. At any rate, I'd like to get a degree in Sociology or Anthropology. Or both. I also enjoy linguistics. And ready about etymology. Sorry, it's probably boring to anyone else, but I find it fascinating.

I’m really good at

Procrastinating. Oh, and being distracted. I'm also really good at being a dad.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I'm very shy. Or that I gesticulate wildly once you get me talking.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything Lord of the Rings, Warhammer 40K, Star Wars, especially the New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force series, The Wheel of Time series, Battletech. Anything by Harry Turtledove, Clive Cussler, Michael Chrichton. I also like Non-fiction that deals with history, mostly of war. Books like Art of War, On War, anything WWII for the time being. Actually anything from the 20th century dealing with war.

Movies: Anything action or significantly epic. I have tons of DVD's, but I'll just list off a few from the binder I keep by my computer: Letters from Iwo Jima, Resident Evil, The Island, Final Fantasy Advent Children, The Gaurdian, The Illusionist, World Trade Center, Lord of War, Space Cowboys, Man on Fire, Cloverfield, U-571. Other notables are Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, stuff that is science fiction, or about war, and especially a crossing of the two. I'm also very much into anime. Or I used to be. Or actually, I used to have time to be into anime. My collection is all stuff that has been around a while, since I haven't added anything to it in a few years. But what I have on hand (that I can find) include Rurouni Kenshin, Noir, Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, 0080, and 0083, FLCL, Candidate for Goddess, Excel Saga, Blue Submarine, Love Hina, Trigun, Hellsing, Chobits, Fruits Basket, Ai Yori Aoshi, .Hack//Sign, and a few anime movies.

Music: I was going to list the songs on my MP3 player, but it went through wash last week, which saddens me. :-( So I'll just check out my folder on the computer. Alice Deejay, ATB, DJ Tiesto, Dirty Vegas, Paul Oakenfold, Audioslave, Godsmack, Korn, Pantera, t.A.T.u., Beethoven, Cascade, Gorillaz, John Mayer, Mozart. I can't really stress enough that I really like almost all music. I'm not too big on rap or country. I even have some really eclectic stuff, like old Russian Military marches, J-Pop, the list goes on. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

And as far as food, I don't really have a favorite. I love Chinese and Japanese, but I also love Mexican and Thai. I'll try (almost) anything once. Again, I'm open to suggestions, here.

The six things I could never do without

I'll avoid the obvious. Clearly I care very much for my friends and family.

1. Fresh Air.
2. Free Thought.
3. String Cheese.
4. A Library Card.
5. Occasional Uncomfortable Silence.
6. The Color Blue.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Where I'm going in life. Sorry for the cliche. I have my goals, and my plans. Just not the time.

On a typical Friday night I am

Relaxing around the house. Thursdays are my social nights, mostly because it's when more people are free.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm not really that private, if people take the time to get to know me. That being said, I'm not sure I'm interesting enough to have something worth writing here. I have a bad fear of spiders and beetles. Is that good enough. I told you I'm not very interesting like that.

You should message me if

You should message me if you're looking for a decent conversation. Or if we have similar interests. Or if you just have something interesting to say.

You probably shouldn't message me if you're going to judge my wife's and my decision to live a polyamorous lifestyle. We've made our parents aware of it, and they are pretty hardcore religious. If we can put up with their opinions without changing, random people on the internet won't have better luck.
