Former Californian who is readjusting to life on the other
I 'm a bit of a serial hobbyist and I'm constantly on the lookout
for new things to try. A few of these hobbies include
skateboarding, slacklining , running, and weight lifting. My real
passion though is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which if you don't know is
kind of like wresting (the kind done in college, not the kind done
by The Rock) but in pajamas.
I have also checked off a lot of the boxes on the "Are you a nerd?"
bucket list. The only big one left is LARPing and honestly some
things are better left unchecked.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently I'm working as an engineer in the satellite division of
an aerospace company. There I spend a lot of time wrestling excel,
running experiments, and trying to look like I know what I am
doing. I also build things that go into space so that's pretty
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Locking myself out of places. My current record for apartment lock
outs is 3 times in a single day (2 of those were within an hour of
themselves). Previous 2014 stats are 4 apartment lockouts and 1 car
lockout, which is a great year for me.

I tend to talk with my hands, which can be a problem since I have a
poor sense of where my body is in space. I may have accidentally

Books: 1984 (1984 > Brave New World), Devil in the White City,
The New York Trilogy, Hot Zone, Y: The Last Man, Chew. Current
TV Shows: I'm a big fan if Joss Whedon shows. Hannibal is
criminally underrated. Top Gear (the UK version). 30 for 30 is my
current Netflix binge (I don't even watch regular sports but man do
I love sports stories/dramas). True Detectives was one of the best
things ever on TV.
Movies: The Muppets (it is a fact that everything is better with
Muppets), Pulp Fiction, Hot Fuzz, and Seven. Interstellar left me
Music: I can listen to The Strokes and RHCP on repeat forever. The
Velvet Underground, Arctic Monkeys, and BRMC are amazing.
Podcasts/radio: I love Plant Money, Radio Lab, Serial and This
American Life. If I could have one superfluous wish it would be for
Ira Glass to narrate my life.
Food: I'll happily eat anything (well almost anything), but nothing
beats a good burrito or a plate of unagi. Also if Kogi ever
branches out to DC I would get fat. If you know of any good Mexican
food let me know.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. MP3 Player (soundtrack for life)
2. A huge backlog of books
3. Some game to play (Board games!)
4. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
5. Coffee (how I got through grad school)
6. New topics to obsess over
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend most of my time thinking about new things to learn, books
to read, movies/shows to watch, training techniques.
I am also very concerned about something I've forgotten. I'll let
you know once I remember.
