My self-summary
I am still a little new to the Boston area so I'm still getting to know the area a bit. I love traveling - or wandering, more like - but also reading, trivia nights and board games. I like to be healthy and can get down on a boot camp or a fun 10k, but I'm not crazy about it all. Having a sense of humor is important, and not taking yourself too seriously.

I'm pretty outdoorsy and I like to camp just as much as I dig museums. Wish I played better piano, and I like to knit and make things... I, personally, don't have a TV but I don't hate on them. I probably wouldn't want one in my bedroom, though.

I think the view of Boston is gorgeous from the train as it goes over the Longfellow bridge in the morning and I always watch for the abandoned station near Harvard. I'm from North Carolina and love some pulled pork BBQ, and I love the winter but I am ready for some sunshine and warm weather again!
What I’m doing with my life
Living it, cup of coffee in hand and smile on my face!

I spent a few months backpacking across southern Africa after I finished the Peace Corps last year, and I'm still adjusting a little bit but it's pretty good to be back... I spent six months living in out of a tent and I won't lie, it's good to have a real bed again. But the best thing - a hot shower. I'm a pretty easy traveler, love seeing new places, but happy to be getting a foothold in Boston.

The last two years convinced me that I want to go to nursing school eventually (I was working in an HIV clinic while I was in the Peace Corps) so I'm working out the logistics of that - I'm probably a year or so and a post-bac away, and supporting myself with an administrative job at MGH in the meantime.

I'm pretty happy with where my life is going right now. I'm not looking for someone to make me complete or give meaning to my life - I've got that under control. I am just looking to meet people, since I don't know many in the area yet.
I’m really good at
Calming down irate patients, learning languages, and picking things up in new places.
The first things people usually notice about me
Who really knows the answer to this question about themselves?! But my friends say... it's that I'm pretty upbeat and cheerful. Honestly, I just like getting out and doing stuff!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen, P G Wodehouse, Rex Stout, Edna St Vincent Millay, Flannery O'Connor, Eudora Welty, Alexandra Fuller, Simon Winchester, Edith Wharton, (begrudgingly) Jared Diamond.

June Bug, Princess Bride, Hotel Rwanda, Empire Records, Coen brothers/Tarantino, not Pitch Perfect.

Downton, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, House of Cards, Modern Family, Game of Thrones - but I am pretty much very behind on watching anything!

Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Avett Brothers, P Square, Acoustic Syndicate, Gram Parsons, Lucinda Williams, hm... but my Pandora is on a Hootie/Counting Crows kick off and on lately.

Food. (Everything!) I especially love seafood, sweet potatoes, spicy things and Ethiopian, and I love good southern food. I cook a lot of things in the crock-pot. I kinda think you shouldn't eat something unless you're willing to kill it. Which is not to say that killing is ever a solution. And I don't think you should ever kill things for the sake of art, James Prosek.
The six things I could never do without
My family.
Soap.
When it comes right down to it, everything else is negotiable - right?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What word to play in Letterpress. I play my brother, and he's pretty good. (But not good enough!)
On a typical Friday night I am
Out exploring the city(!), getting drinks with friends, or hanging with my brother and sister-in-law.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The IDX system that I work most with at my job is DOS-based.
