My self-summary
Alternate between being a crazy adventurer and needing to curl up and have a quiet life. Itinerant nomad, who will stop for hugs, good company, whisky, gigs and dancing. The super-power i need is teleportation.

Whilst theoretically i live in Brighton, this is becoming increasingly theoretically. i spend a lot of time not actually in Brighton. In fact i spend most of my time on a rough loop between Northamptonshire, Oxford and London in the UK. Overseas - well anywhere really if there is conflict/natural disasters it is more likely than if it is a lovely stable country. Nairobi is a bit of a hub, so i pass through there a couple of times a year.

Just back from scoping out work options in North America, and expect to be back out in the US and Canada a bit over the next year...

Disclaimer: Please do not message me if your opening gambit is "fancy a shag, or equivalent" - even if i do "fancy a shag" i would need to find you attractive - and i'm attracted to things/people that are interesting . As this is the internet, you will need to start interesting me with words. Guess what this means i am more interested in getting to know interesting people rather than random sex with idiots. And even if i do find you attractive, this attraction may not translate into sexual attraction. Got it?
What I’m doing with my life
Currently working as a humanitarian aid security consultant. This essentially means i help people work out how to stay alive/uninjured/do their job in conflict and post conflict settings. It also means i frequently jet off to strange climes.

Last summer i came out of a long term relationship which included marriage, so i guess that puts me as "separated", so trying to work out what i'm doing, where i'm going, try lots of new and crazy things to distract me :) So far this is going very well :) Although i tend to live a lot of my life on the road...

Have also embarked on a "do up the house" project over the next few months, well whenever i'm back for long enough to do anything, ....so if you happen to have a strange love of DIY/gardening and want to be fed tea/booze and hang out in return, this may be an option (i live in hope!)
I’m really good at
talking about random subjects
having interesting schemes and ideas, and often acting on them
contingency planning
i love cooking
getting on areoplanes and flying to strange places
getting in the car and driving to less strange places
hanging out and talking.

By contrary i am rubbish at dates! If you want to meet up, best to ask me to hang out/do something as i'm good at that. A date may send me into a panic! (can someone explain the difference please!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told that its my curly hair and mobile eyebrows? On a good day i can be very smiley - oh and breasts. I have breasts - i am aware of this fact, but strangely enough sometimes people feel the need to comment on this.
Having said that in the last month 2 random people in shops have decided to tell me i have "lovely eyes". This is a little weird, but hey random compliments always brighten the day...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm an avid reader and will devour most things. A few that come to mind that have stuck in my mind/been significant: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, On the Road, In the Morning we will be killed along with our families, The Illuminatus Trilogy, The Dice Man, Brave New World, Heart of Darkness, Stranger in a strange Land, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

Authors whose stuff i devour: Neil Gaiman, Philip K Dick, Robert Heinlen, Naomi Novak, Douglas Adams

Music: eclectic: folk, rock, metal, punk, goth, alt.country, americana all figure. I'll listen to lots of things, but artists i keep going back to time and time again are: The Rolling Stones, Josh Ritter, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, The Levellers, Richard Thompson, Show of Hands, The Old Blind Dogs, Emmylou Harris, Bellowhead, Afro Celt Sound System, Imagined Village, Martha Wainwright, Dresden Dolls, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Gretchen Peters, Seth Lakeman, The Men they could not Hang, Manu Chao/Manu Negra

My favourite new bands are Crowns - cornish fishpunk apparently, and the Zac Brown band - Americana - go listen they are awesome!

Movies: Factual, War, sci fi, fantasy

Apocalypse Now (brilliant adaptation of Heart of Darkness), Hotel Rwanda, Sometimes in April (which makes Hotel Rwanda and Shooting Dogs seem a walk in the park), Johnny Mad Dog, Blood Diamond, Blade Runner, Total Recall, Pans Labyrinth, Bowling for Columbine, Avatar, studio Gibli, The Ring (Japanese version)
I do watch lighter stuff - and enjoy it, its just its the hard hitters that stay in my brain.

TV shows: Supernatural, Jericho, The 4400, Dexter, Masterchef, Once Upon a time.
Food: I'll try most things :) In particular unusual food.
The six things I could never do without
my friends
hugs
my passport
a good pair of boots
Tea
wheels (until i get that teleportation thing sussed)
the keys to my mates houses!
mobile phone (well i could, and have...but these days it is exceedingly useful)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
other places
contingency plans
depraved countries
nothing in particular (procrastination)
schemes and dreams
whatever is distracting me at the time
what i am doing on a "dating" site when i seem to have a dislike of dates! (but i do like chatting to people, and if they intrigue me am willing to meet to do something interesting and see what happens!)
On a typical Friday night I am
..theres no such thing as typical....i might go out dancing, to a gig, for a meal, to visit friends, to catch a plane to somewhere, walk by water, or curl up with a movie or good book. I might also be in a field somewhere LARPing or camping with friends.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi girls
  • Ages 25–50
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
you can do random internet witterings - sometimes frequent, then with long gaps, only to come back as if it was a few minutes ago
you have something interesting to say to me.
you want to be random at me
you want to try and persuade me to do something interesting
you live anywhere - really - i am just as likely to eventually meet you if you live in Timbuktu as i am if you live in Brighton. Possibly more likely, given the current situation in Mali, and the fact i dont already have friends there!
you like strange nomadic geeky humanitarians.
you have a crazy theory to discuss
you think embracing the good crazy,so there is no space for the bad is a good philosophy
