I am tall, nerdy, and awesome.
My Self-Summary
Hey, I'm Nick. I'm 21, a college student, and I live in downtown
Salt Lake. I love Salt Lake City, but I try not to go south of 3300
unless it's for work or a
soccer game, because I lived in Sandy
growing up and that's enough of the suburbs to last me a lifetime.
I don't take most things very seriously, but I pride myself on
standing by my word and being loyal to my friends, my family, and
my partner, and I expect the same out of the people I date. I like
going to the bar on weekends, but I don't care for clubs, mostly
because in all the times I've been to one I don't think I've ever
heard good music. I love
travel, even though I usually can't
afford it--I went to Europe on student loans a couple of times in
the last year and a half, and it was worth the money I'll be paying
back for the next decade. I probably spend too much time on the
computer, but on the plus side I'm pretty good at fixing them. I'm
both a liberal and a gun nut (or "firearms enthusiast" if you
prefer). I have a tendency to rant. I probably swear excessively,
although I can put a lid on it when need be. Most days I wear jeans
and a t-shirt, but I look damn good in a suit, so that's fun
sometimes. I'm not big on one-night stands, but I'm also not
looking to get married anytime soon--it weirds me out a bit to go
to a class filled with people my age and realize that 3/4 of the
people there are married or engaged. I'm attempting to teach myself
to cook, even though it sometimes turns out kind of disastrously
and I have to throw everything out and make a sandwich instead. But
hey.
Anything else you want to know, just ask.
Also, the thing down at the bottom says I'm apparently "Less
Romantic," but that's actually a load of crap. I really enjoy
candlelit dinners, cuddling, buying girls flowers, etc. I know it's
mostly cheesy cliches, but sometimes cheesy cliches can be a lot of
fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently majoring in political science at the U, and working
part-time building computers. I also have a bullshit job where I
quite literally get paid to do nothing, it's pretty sweet. I'm
considering going to law school, I'd like to focus on
constitutional law more than anything.
I’m really good at
Staying up way too late, buying lots of books, sleeping in on
weekends, traveling as much as possible, drinking lots of beer at
soccer games, reading funny websites, procrastinating, and arguing
on the internet.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm 6'6". And no, I don't play basketball--I pretty much suck at
every sport known to man.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: The Importance of Being Earnest, Dune, Brave New World,
Female Chauvinist Pigs, Freakonomics, pretty much anything by
Shakespeare (except Romeo and Juliet, never really liked that one),
various non-fiction.
Movies: The Boondock Saints, Green Street Hooligans, V For
Vendetta, Die Hard, Clerks, Wayne's World, Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure, Shooter. Comedies and mindless action movies for the
most part.
Music: Too much to list. I like punk (Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion,
the Clash), ska (Desmond Dekker, the Selecter, Less Than Jake), Oi
(Sham 69, Last Resort, Combat 84), hip-hop (the Coup, Dead Prez,
Public Enemy), classic rock (CCR, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead),
classical, occasional techno, Johnny Cash.
Food: I'll eat pretty much anything, but I like going out and
trying new stuff.
The six things I could never do without
Books, computer, music, phone, friends, family.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Travel, politics, school, whether or not RSL will make the playoffs
this year.
On a typical Friday night I am
With a few friends at someone's apartment or at a bar, hanging out
and having a couple beers.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
If I'm by myself in an elevator sometimes I do a little dance to
the muzak.
You should message me if
We have something in common.
